Do not undermine the integrity of the police force

Someone posted a comment in my Facebook - We have an excellent police force. We should not allow anyone to undermine the integrity of our men in blue.

I replied to his comment - Do not talk rubbish. Do not make this statement when you do not know what is really happening.

Let me state my position.

I generally trust our police force. Many officers carry out their work honestly and with dedication.

However, there are many instances where they are not investigating complaints in an effective manner .

I am quoting the anecdotal experience of many people. I have personally encountered this experience on several occasions during the past years.

If the minister of home affairs wishes to know the details of my past experiences, he can contact me.

If he does not contact me, I will post these personal experiences in my website later.

I find that our process of handling complaints is quite of date. I am sure that many countries would have found more effective ways of handling and investigating the complaints.

We do not create an excellent police force by propaganda, or by having the blind trust of people who do not know what is really happening.

The lack of transparency, which is quite common in Singapore, does not help to address this challenge.

We need to identify our weaknesses and find better ways to deal with them.

Do you agree with my view that our police force need to improve their system of handling and investigating complaints?

    CCS is full of shit.

LKY and PAP are the ones using a “narrow yardstick” with their “pick-the-winner” policy. Their goal is to ensure the MAJORITY of young Singaporeans do NOT get into local universities because they view Singaporeans graduates as a threat to PAP’s political dominance. Graduates are more knowledgeable, confident, idealistic, and glib. They might join the opposition parties making them more credible and therefore electable.

Also, using the SAF top posts as a main criterion to selecting political leaders is another good example “narrow yardstick”. These people are just a bunch of over-paid civil servants used to taking orders instead of thinking.

To be fair,me sincerely think many of our police officers try to do a good job.
However, owing to our policies that tend to tilt towards the side of foreigners somehow, subtly or otherwise, many police officers who wanted to uphold justice with integrity were being hindered.
Grassroot leaders/ members also * abuse* their networking( guanxi) with MPs n ministers to exert pressure on our police officers n other civil servants to pander to their own interests.
Out of *fear* of complaints by such SEEMINGLY INFLUENTIAL people, many police officers took the EASY OPTION of * skirting* issues such as acts of aggressions etc.

Personally,i have encountered a few incidents myself but i remained steadfast to seek justice despite the odds against me.
I escalated the matter from one level to the next higher / senior officer till some reasonable degree of fairness was accorded.
I must say our police officers oso want to jaga their rice bowls.
But there will always be an officer who will be fair n courageous.
I came across one such officer myself.
I thanked him for correcting his subordinate’s wrongful decision.
I was the victim of an aggression by an influential perpetrator.

Our police officers must be empowered so they can carry out their sacred duties with integrity and without fear or favour.

    Our police need a revamp.
FTs have no respect for our police officers as shown by many incidents.
Even many of our younger sgs, some in their forties,body-building kind, show disrespect.

Wong Kan Seng is responsible for the weakened state of our police force.
Time for reform so that our police officers can carry out their duties with integrity, fairness n courage once again.

  • Harder Truths:

Most polce are just there because they can;t find any other job. In essence, they are the rejects of the educational system who would become gangsters anyway, but have found that the SPF is just another way to become a gangster without the repercussions.

Never saw a policeman/woman do their job. Always see them trying to convince people not to make a report or do other things so their life is easier. I have personally experienced this. They do not care about anything besides their own welfare.

In may area, I have seen the police only a handful of times at the hawker stall. That’s it. They stay in their office from start to finish, and there is no after hours presence in the estate. The cardboard policeman is supposed to help you when things get out of hand.

Regime is cultivating gangsters who depend on them for a living, so their loyalty is assured if anything goes wrong.

If there was a real incident they will just hide or pretend not to notice. Little India Riots is not the only example. I know of one other case where the police disappeared from the station when a guy was being chased down by gangsters and found no one there to help him. It was mistaken identity but he was dead after that so who cares right?

People may think they are not so bad. Wait until something happens to you. Then see what kind of ‘help’ you get from them.

  • SOP of Arrests:

Investigating and making arrests are part and parcel of Police work.

Certainly, they are not done without Standard Operation Procedures.

When conducting an arrest by court order, the very first procedure is to check with the Prisons Department whether the person under arrest is already in the prison for a prior offence.

There could be cases where police came to the house of the person under arrest only to discover that that person was currently serving a jail term for a prior offence. This is a serious overlook that could humiliate the family of the offender.

Citing an example of X who is currently serving a jail term, BUT court summons for previous Parking offences keep coming to his home address. In this case, is there a lack of communication or coordination among the relevant authorities and/or agencies?

Perhaps, the SOP of conducting an arrest by court order should include checking with the Prisons whether the offender is currently a prison inmate.

Tan, this piece shows now u are behaving normally and decently.

Yes I do have 3 incidents which I can say, the SPF proved to me, at least, to be IDIOTS FORCE of the worst kind, only found in 3rd or 4th world countries.

SPF is very much secured, armored by PAP laws, regulations and of course MillionAir PAP members.

Bcz of covid, I frequented a car park away from crowds and enjoy being alone, the SPF came to ka qiao me obviously due to prying eyes from nearby flats reporting to the STUPID SG Police tt I m a vagrant creating nuisances.

Instead they gave me a lecture and…. U know what, join the dots yourself.

PS. Rmb some years ago, Police were asked to give a ‘light touch at illegal parking’ at Ris by a PAP Minister.

LOL, quoting CCS, the uniquely pappies’ MSS – Minister of Sia Suay, which no other country has a counterpart, much less being paid million$ of taxpayer monies for being so. Useless boss only begets useless officials.

8 patients died in SGH in 2015, gov delayed informing the public for 6 months (until AFTER the GE2015), then no independent investigations nor COI nor any special parliamentary committee to look into it – only an “internal review”, the findings of which is NO BLAMING CULTURE. As far as known, SPF didn’t seek to persecute anyone for the deaths. The pappies already using SUPER-WIDE yardsticks to measure their EPIC FAILURES, so don’t talk about narrow yardsticks to measure success. Anyway, should upgrade CCS to MSSS (Minister of Sia Suay and Shxt).

Anyway, the ones really undermining the integrity of our police force are those in the Leadership positions. Take the drowning of the SCDF NSF in the well-ragging incident. Such ragging ritual was said to be on-going for 13 years, yet the respective authorities didn’t put a stop to it. Ultimately, the Minister of Home Affairs should be held fully responsible (since SCDF is under MFA) but we saw how the case played out – only the low ranking commanders got the blame. Shamni said: “we will get to the bottom of it”, which literally meant the blame starts from the bottom up, the middle got buffered, the top is fully protected. How to build Integrity, hor?

And the infamous Liew-Prati case – clearly miscarriage of justice under (again) Shamni’s jurisdiction. Integrity??? Case in limbo now?

What about the case where a 14-YO boy was pulled out of class in front of his classmates by 5 policemen, interrogated at AMK station without the presence of any adult or legal representation, who subsequently committed suicide? What was Shamni arguments on that – anyone remembers?

We don’t really need TKL’s experiences; there are so many public knowledge cases available if anyone want to cite.

Someone I knew personally was taken handcuffed from his office at which he worked as a highly paid executive and sent to a police lock-up. It was for a “cheating” offence, having entered a lounge with false documents, where he had some free snags as his lunch worth about four dollars. He wasn’t allowed to contact home people even though he was to be kept overnight. He suffered heart palpitation and had to be sent to hospital and was retained to be observed through the night till next day. He had to pay the hospitalisation fee, even though he suffered that condition whilst in police custody, a condition induced by police treatment. Meanwhile home people, if they were home, were left to be concerned, and could have gone to the same police to report a missing person! Fortunately, no one was home for they were overseas. And without warning, he was taken to his home the next day by policemen who searched his flat.

  • Zhenzidan:

The Little India riot already exposed the uselessness of SPF. Even the former police chief Tan Bah Bah was shocked by their cowardice. Let me relate an incident.

I had a China friend working in a restaurant. He was hit by his Singaporean boss, a man in his 60s. Of course he could have easily beaten the old man but he was fearful of losing his job. I advised him to file a police report. But his agent said let them handle. The agent spoke to the boss and he promised not to hit my again. But a few later, he used a larder and slammed it on my friend’s head. My friend had to hide inside his room and called me for help. I urged him to call the police and to give them his contact number. Two officers went down to the restaurant and met the boss who hit my friend and asked him “Someone reported that he had been hit. Where is that person?”

The boss replied “No, Nobody got hit.” The officers then answered “No one? OK” and then they just left.

My friend who was waiting in his room got shocked and called me again. I then called the police station and asked “How come your officers just talked to the boss? Of course he will deny hitting my friend!”

He replied “They could not find your friend. He shouldn’t have left the place.!”

I fucked the officer saying “He kena walloped and you expect him to stay there and continue to get walloped? I thought my friend gave you all his mobile number but why didn’t they call him?”

“Ok, I will send the officers down again to investigate.”

I replied “Please make sure they call my friend!”

The officers went down again and this time they called my friend, but instead of asking about the hitting incident, they fucked my friend for complaining to to their superior!”

This is the fucked up attitude of the police force now.

But they took down his particulars and told him to file a formal report at the station.

I accompanied my friend the next day, and after knowing about the officers’ attitude, I first brought my friend to the China Embassy to file a complaint. The Embassy said we still need to file a report first and let them handle. But if we felt that the police didn’t handle it responsibly, then only they can intervene.
