Time for monitoring runaway prices is over Wong, It’s now time to act!

Singapore’s headline inflation jumped to 5.4 per cent in March – a high not seen since April 2012 – as the cost of food, services, private transport and accommodation all rose. The steep hike in inflation happened after Finance Minister Lawrence Wong announced the GST hike.

Red Dot United is against the raising of the GST. Inflation has been creeping upwards in February and people were already complaining about the rise of prices in daily necessities. We warned that announcing the GST hike amid an inflation is a wrong move. Runaway prices pose a great risk to the economy.

Earlier this month, Wong said that he will need time to allow the measures announced in Budget 2022 to take effect, and feed through the economy, before he monitors their impact, assess the overall situation, and then consider what additional steps he might want to take.

“I am surprised that he said that he will monitor the situation. And that too, when people’s pockets are being hurt,” said Ravi Philemon, secretary-general of Red Dot United.

He added: “From walking the ground, I hear that a 2 veg + 1 meat Cai Png has increased from $3 to $4.50 per packet. Some have told me that they have no choice but to buy 1 veg + 1 meat packets as it costs less. People have to eat well to be healthy.”

“I support the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s recent move to make the Singapore dollar appreciate more aggressively to help absorb some of the inflation that seeps in. But that alone is not enough.”

Several countries around the world are announcing relief measures to help their people cope with the record high inflation. We also have to ensure that the overall average salary increases for our workers keep up with our current inflation rate. Towards this, the Government can help our local companies which are struggling financially but want to keep their commitment to the workers.

“Wong, please, the time for monitoring is over,” said Mr Philemon.

Isn’t this is how the PAP works. Always looking for hindsight searching for a magic solution and hoping to rewind the clock?

PAP spent billions of taxpayers dollars but still failed in helping anyone except their conies!

PM Lee knew SG will be $8billion poorer, but what is he going to do? Is he going to cut salary of ministers, remove the 5 mayors, Senior Ministers, second ministers and reduce those ministers sitting in PM’s office doing nothing, etc?

Now he and wife are busy meeting the sultan of Johor receiving their award for solving the unemployment problem of Malaysians in Johor!

  • BIG READ :Stop the PAP Steal:

The PAP Administration said (saying and acting is ENTIRELY different and separate. Was there any proof to differentiate both developments to us as consumers) they will diversify food sources besides the perennial monitoring and monitoring and more monitoring.
(Monitoring in basic meaning IS JUST Watching).

Classic verbosity of expensive millionaire law makers. And they are not cheap to install them in Parliament.

Usually its quite tiring to one’s brains, soul and spines if any normal human keep lying and lying. But it doesn’t seems to be the case in SG to expensive politicians.

  • PAP DON'T STOP at Red Lights:

If a HDB flat is worth a Million $$ now, shall it NOT be worth $300,000.00 in 20 years time (discount of 70 percent realistic?) which presumably passes on to next generation?

If a 4 Room HDB flat now selling at $400,000.00, will it be $800,000 in 20 years time – BECAUSE this is what I interpret, the words spoken by a PAP Minister, a Store of Value.

Or will it BE REDUCED to $50,000 or ZERO since the PAP keep harping that the next generation will carry a heavier burden if current generation is not careful in conservation and spend more money.

Or it it going to be future laws HDB flats cannot be passed down? Next generation has TO EARN their upkeeps?

Very very confusing BECAUSE it SEEMS PAP has CREATED a huge huge trove of UNCERTAINTIES leh.

Reported on Straits Times :Quote-”SINGAPORE – A round-trip economy class flight to London on Singapore Airlines (SIA) cost $1,800 before the pandemic began in early 2020. As at this week, travellers can expect to fork out 80 per cent more for their holiday in Britain, with tickets to the capital for next month and July going for $3,200.

A round-trip economy class ticket to New York on SIA for June costs $3,000 this week, while flying to Seoul in the same month will set one back $1,380. Nearer to home, a round-trip to Bangkok in June can cost as much as $384 on the national carrier….” Unquote.

Response : Air tickets prices up ? Today at T3,T1 ,jewel terminals, observations show good crowds in all these areas with good businesses ! However the Mcdonald at Terminal 3 level 1 seem to be closed most likely for good with some equipment seem to be removed,no light on and nobody manning counters. And Terminal 2 seem to be still renovating !!!! That Terminal 2 has been closed and renovating for some time already ! Still renovating ????Pui !

“Stretch your dollar” by Fairprice is not going to help to rein in the inflation!

The need of the hour is for pappy govt to stretch her hand to help rein in the rising costs is reduce overall GST & abolish GST of essential goods for 2 years wef 2023 & 2024 instead of raising GST.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THE PAPPY GOVT INSIST ON STRETCHING HER HAND TO SLAP US REAL HARD ON THE LEFT & RIGHT CHEEKS WITH GST HIKES TO 9%!

    @VFS:

“I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THE PAPPY GOVT INSIST ON STRETCHING HER HAND TO SLAP US REAL HARD ON THE LEFT & RIGHT CHEEKS WITH GST HIKES TO 9%!”

LHL will say, by voting the PAP into power, the Public has agreed to all increases and polices of the PAP. ( LHL’s interview with Christiane Amanpour on 11th June 2018, “……Because that is the way Singaporeans have voted and it is an outcome of the elections. When does it change? It changes when the Singaporean electorate decides that this Government is not serving their interests, ceases to support this PAP team……”

LHL has clearly stated how to end our pain but 61% suffering from the abused wife syndrome still voted the PAP into power.

This leads to the resident population having to beg for mercy from the all powerful PAP Enforcement. They do not help citizens until close to elections. So LW will continue to monitor while we pay and pay.

My suggestion, ask family members who voted for the PAP to pay for all increases.

  • Harder Truths:

This is cost-push inflation, which comes from scarcity of commodities, rather than the normal demand-pull inflation. This is the start of a supply-side contraction that is expected to end in unavailability of food and other basic resources.

It is best people start stocking up whatever provisions they can – the war in Ukraine is hitting all sectors of the world economy and sooner or later the supply chain into $inkieland will also be affected.

How long this situation can go on no one knows. But never expect the Regime to solve it or get us through it. Just like CoVID, you die your business.

THE G,instead of looking for ways to bring down COL,which the G could easily do so as it has wide-ranging businesses from TH stable to agencies like Singapore Power, etc and especially NTUC FAIRPRICE N HDB,SBS N NTUC COMFORT,the G allows prices to shoot skyward$ instead?

Profit is the main objective n higher n higher profit$ is the AIM!
HOW NOT TO PU$H UP prices n fees and escalate COL?

IMAGINE HDB COSTING A COOL MILLION OR MORE?
    Thats a bit far-fetched,right?

This year, prices already adjusted before the Ukraine war and then the war came and prices went further. They conveniently pushed the blame to war. A lot of sheep keep repeating the SOP answer, especially die hards or people with low IQ.

The war IS SIMPLY a no BRAINER to the PAP to wash sheeps brains and justify their own best ability bcz they CANNOT stop the war, can they.
2ndly Almost the WHOLE of PAP blame SG as Price takers.
3rd. GST has to be increased when anyway no impact a few years down the road yet one PROMINENT PAP lady prostitute said. Prostitutes by nature of their monopoly of their own supply CAN INCREASE price. So this is her logic.
