Fake Political Openness

The charm offensive to win over Singaporeans to LHL’s selected interim seat warmer (preferred because he is a weak candidate and thus easy to move aside when the time comes for Mini-mini LKY to take over) continues at full pace. LHL’s personal propaganda team (otherwise known as SPH Media Trust and MediaCorp, both corruptly paid for with your money) have reported on LW’s words of disinformation at yet another IPS (read PAP propaganda) event, the Young People’s Conference 2022). Of course in a totalitarian state all institutions come under the control of one man or one party and exist solely to present the population with an image of the inevitability of one party rule and the impossibility of change. Singapore is no different from Russia , China, North Korea or Belarus in this respect.

LW talked about the launch of Forward Singapore, yet another fake exercise in engaging the people, proving once again that the PAP are intellectually and morally bankrupt and have nothing new to say. When he said he was “not talking about engaging political parties” but “engaging Singaporeans”, he was merely propagating the standard PAP myth that SIngaporeans do not need Opposition in Parliament to hold the Government accountable because talking to your MPs will bring about the changes you seek. I can remember speaking at a forum with the discredited and disappeared Michael Palmer, brought low by a sex scandal, back in 2010 when he said exactly the same thing.

Pretending to listen to the people to hear their grievances seems to be inherited from Imperial China, where a similar myth held that you were able to petition the emperor for the redress of grievances. Of course the imperial police and bodyguards were there to intercept anyone who made the journey to the capital from a far-off province and ensure they disappeared, either into prison or worse. As a result of this blocking the emperor could falsely claim harmony existed in the realm, just as LHL does today when he says how happy he is to see Singaporeans united compared to democracies in the West, such as the US or the UK, where one is allowed to express dissenting opinions. This pretence of being able to petition the emperor has continued in Communist China, where similarly the security services are vigilant to prevent people with grievances from appearing in the capital and irritating the Communist Party leadership by complaining about injustices they or their family have suffered. Persistent petitioners end up in secret prisons where they can be held for years. The PAP might not imprison people who complain, at least not initially, but then they do not need to. Those who question the system have lost their jobs and become unemployable. A battery of repressive laws such as POFMA and FICA (which replace the sedition law that the UK has abolished) as well as both criminal and civil defamation laws are there to destroy those who dare to criticise too effectively. As we have seen LHL’s judiciary will hand out increasingly severe sentences to those who protest, a recent example being the man who was sentenced to a year for standing outside the US Embassy with a placard. The aim is to force people who disagree to shut up or leave the country. Those who have been the PAP’s most effective critics are erased from history as LHL rewrites Singapore’s story to glorify his dynasty and destroy or make non persons of those who say the Emperor has no clothes.

When LW says he welcomes “diverse views” he means views that are carefully circumspect and respect him and his master. Above all they have to recognise the no go areas such as the performance of our sovereign wealth funds, the fake Budget, and in particular why despite decades of austerity and forced saving Singaporeans have received no benefit at all from the reserves. They also cannot question the concept of “meritocracy” as defined by LHL which means his wife, a woman with modest academic qualifications, is deemed fit to manage the country’s s reserves on a salary package so huge that the Government will go to any lengths to keep it secret. It also means no one questions how his son was employed by Google and how he has now risen to be head of the Technology Agency. Singaporeans also cannot ask why, if their economic performance is so superior to badly managed democracies, they have to pay twice as much for household staples and be paid less than half as much per hour as workers in the UK or Europe and the US, let alone those in the major cities in those countries.

The desire to keep quiet and not to rock the boat extends to our Official Opposition, the Workers Party, who seem to think their job is merely to act as a postbox or a speaking tube to relay their constituents’ wishes and grievances to Parliament. When I went to Armenia with Silvia Lim and Pritam SIngh in 2018, they actually stood on stage before an Armenian audience and said precisely that . It was astonishing that they seemed to have no comprehension that the primary duty of an Opposition is to hold the Government accountable and ultimately to seek to replace it with a new Government with better policies.

With typical PAP hypocrisy LW spoke about coming “together as one country and let’s think about how we might want Singapore to be greener, to be fairer, to be more inclusive, to be a better society for ourselves and also for our next generation’.”

Instead of playing the PAP’s game, SIngaporeans need to ask LW how it is possible to have any dialogue when there is such a gross asymmetry of information and imbalance of power between our ruling elite and the people. Instead of conforming to his idea of what a tame, deferential and well ordered dialogue should look like, you need to keep asking him what has happened to what should be $2-3 trillion of reserves and why taxes need to go up. You need to make sure that he answers all the questions I have listed above. You need to hold the Government accountable and make him explain about the holes in the Budget, the fake Net Investment Returns Contributions and the mysterious increase in health expenditures despite the huge rise in Medisave balances and the fact that you are threatened with penury if you contract a serious illness. I am sure that LW’s good humour and jovial man of the people bonhomie will rapidly disappear to be replaced by a threatening bad temper, just as when I asked then Minister Hari Kumar (shortly after out of a job) uncomfortable questions at a seminar on CPF in 2015. But if you do not ask him and his master LHL these questions and persist through what will be bluster, bullshit and barely veiled threats, you will not only be letting yourself down but your children also and all future generations of SIngaporeans.

You need to say “Instead of a fake dialogue, Lawrence Wong, we want answers and we are not going away till we get them!”

All we need to do is hear the rubbish from Lawrence or any of his clown colleagues and then vote for the opposition. There isn’t a need to ask any questions since they will either be avoided or having an answer that does not answer the question.

PAP only responds when their numbers are cut down to size in parliament, always remember this point. They know more are going to vote for the opposition no matter what they do so, out of ideas, they are desperate enough to run the occcasional report on how they might not be in power come an election, how they can check on themselves, how more opposition voted in will lead to gridlock and of course, how there isn’t groupthink in the party ho ho ho.

Don’t give a damn what is being said, the only way to voice out is by voting opposition in. If PAP should get voted out then we shall see just how good the civil service is in working with the new government.

Nothing to fear, so many countries have changed governments before. Why should Singapore be an exception?

From now till the next elections, every effort will be to ensure LHL leave office with near 75-76% votes, the level at which he inherited from Ah Goh. Otherwise, ppl will say what has he done for 18+ years, being paid the highest salary, to get only about 60% votes? Golden Prince cannot leave behind a legacy as the WORST PM ever in SG, right?

The above is so false we can only judge the writer instead of what he has written.

After sieving through one point after another, all we can say is it shows the write has his fact wrong.

Worse we detect a chip on his shoulders. But we are sure never once has he petitioned to the Communist China and has security services preventing him from appearing in Beijing with his grievances.

He cited imperial China. Sure. In those days the corrupt mandarins did all they could from having their foul deeds heard before the emperor. Even here he got his facts wrong. It is never the imperial police and bodyguards who were there who intercepted anyone. It was the mandarins the imperial police and bodyguards of reported to who prevented grievances they caused from being heard by the emperor. The emperor, if ever he wronged anyone, mostly wronged the many women he had or was having in his harem. He was so busy here he had no time to harm a peasant, whether of Indian stock or any stock.

Many times now we have caught the writer having the same problem as Dr Mahatir had with the Chinese folks in his own country. When the time was right, the Chinese folks there ditched Dr Mahatir causing him to lose his deposit. We feel sad that the writer’s mentality is not doing him any good in AMK where his inner feelings ooze out so clearly that he shall get the same treatment that Dr Mahatir received from similar folks.

    Why be like that?

Tech: During the various dynasties, maybe it is true but under Xi, that is no longer the case. India and Indonesia have opened up, these countries are also as populated but worst, they are not as advanced as China. Why can they open up without worries like TR Tech/China Covid 0?

Singapore and many countries have opened up but until now we have not seen those potential issues imagined by TR Tech. Could he very imaginative? Remember Chinese vaccination more power than West.

TR Tech keeps repeating CCP Covid 0 reasons. Pro CCP lovers in China due to income and job losses are turning their love to anger. I had seen my pro CCP relatives becoming bei song with CCP Covid 0… every time he complains, I tell him its CCP common prosperity. LOL

No point bringing this up as some ppl are already dead mindset in their thinking. Those that took the vaccinations – it is their choice (maybe they will really die like flies soon!); likewise for those against vaccinations (how long will it take for them to develop the magical herd immunity?) The main point is: Is the world moving forward past such arguments?

Whether the decisions to live with covid is correct or not (as lamented of many western/Asian countries), it is FACT that that decisions has brought back international trade & economy. People in the live-with-covid countries restored the demand for the factories in China, which in turn kept China economy going. How the factories are run (e.g. isolating the workers to extended lock-downs) is not the concern of the other countries.

What is not highlighted is if every country had adopted something like a covid-zero policy. Then the world would definitely be in a global depression now. No global demand, the factories produce for what? Factories not running, how to lift millions out of poverty?

Tech: Leave the vaccine out of the picture. Again I ask you, you want 150 million people in China to die so that 1.5b can live freely? And what if of the 150 million, 2 are your parents? PRCs in China are starting to revolt against relentless lockdowns causing them to lose jobs and financially. They had ganged up to stop lockdowns by facing these enforcers head on. Many enforcers do not know who gave the orders and repeated they are from up there. As a result, these PRCs ganged up in hundreds to face off and called the police to be on site and these enforcers seeing the numbers and the angers decided to call off the lock downs!!! Even the police did not dare to confront these angry protesters.

I think they should send TR Tech in to confront these protestors and reason with them. Maybe they understand his reason better than all of us.

    Would you agree?

Tech: You can talk until the cows come home and it won’t change a bit. Xi has said that as long as he is around, the zero-c19 will remain, PERIOD. Be that as it may, you are not PRC, you happy to live with the virus by all means, no one is stopping you, China problems leave it to the PRC to deal, you worry for fiack? Protests erupt in Xinjiang and Beijing after deadly fire

    https://edition.cnn.com/2022/11/26/asia/xinjiang-urumqi-china-lockdown-protests-intl-hnk/index.html

Chinese authorities said Saturday they would ease a months-long Covid lockdown in the country’s far western region of Xinjiang “in stages”, following protests over a deadly fire at an apartment building in the regional capital of Urumqi.

At least 10 people were killed and nine injured when the fire broke out on Thursday, according to the local fire department, and public anger over the tragedy has grown with the emergence of video footage that appears to show lockdown measures delaying firefighters from accessing the scene and reaching victims.

———————Lockdowns to save or to kill ————————-
Compare to what TR Tech is talking about Covid 0 to protect people, isnt this more dangerous?

Tech: I absolutely agree, to achieve zero-c19 is one thing, but safety and basic necessity must be taken care of. The fire incident shows that these were not taken into consideration and I am sure many heads will roll.

In fact, about 10 days ago when the city-wide lockdown was initiated, they locked down our apartment’s main door with a padlock, which of course is a fire hazard. I cried father and cried mother until they remove it and replace it with a security guard. Like I have been saying many times, zero-C19 in itself is not a bad policy, but at times, some over-zealous officials overdid it and screwed things up. It is indeed unfortunate that lives have to be lost to learn.

OK, since you like to argue so much not understanding simply math example, let me rephrase. Please do not argue that the C19 do not kill, just look at Hong Kong’s last surge, because it does.

Hong Kong was a city struggling to contain its outbreak, with morgues filled to capacity and hospitals swamped with patients. Then we have Sinkieland where even today, its hospitals are filled to max capacity, please don’t tell me that did not happen.

AND I did NOT say that everything in China is fine. I have made it very clear that the zero-c19 is sound, but too often many times, the hardline, one-size-fits-all approach do cause more harm than good, hence it is debatable. Also, many local over-zealous officials have contributed to the suffering of the residents, although most of the time these officials have been sacked.

Since you have an issue with 150 million, then I will use just 2, and my question is:

“Would you trade the health and lives of your parents so that you do not need to be locked down?”

Answer that and I will continue to discuss weather change, economy, etc etc etc.

It is extremely unbelievable, but it is indeed happening.

The way I see it, the top echelons have 2 main options.

    1. Get more aggressive and throw those responsible in jail and throw away the keys, or
    2. Engage and undertake a review of its zero-c19 policies, do away with one-size-fits-all highhanded approach and make it more dynamic and adaptive.

it is evident now, 3 years down the road, that the current policies are causing great harm to both China and its residents. Official figures put those defaulting on loan repayments to be almost 30% of its population and banks will be unable to function properly if the trend continues. Although huge policy changes have been implemented as far as debts are concerned, it will not eliminate the problem effectively.

In the past residents are afraid of being ‘blacklisted’ (credit report) when they default on a debt, but my reading of the numerous posts online seems to suggest that people no longer care since there are millions of others in the same predicament, a case of no income, no job, take care of family first, why bother with a credit report. Many around me also have chosen to not repay loans and keep cash on them, in case of another lockdown and ironically, I am tempted to think they made the right decision – because the city I am based in is currently on an almost-complete lockdown since 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, I state for the record that I think the zero-c19 policy is sound, but the way it is being implemented is open to debate. IMHO, a balance must be struck between public health and livelihoods.

Better Xi continues to Covid 0 until song song while we continue our freedom. And then wait for the fall of China. LOL

TR Tech pls go convert your red passport into PRC, you love Xi so deep.

Tech: You can dream until song song and wait for the zero-c19 to NEVER be lifted as long as Xi is leading. As for the conversion, I won’t hesitate at all, if you have a connection that can do that, gimme a buzz.

    @theforgottongeneration

You are suffering for selective reading. Didn’t I already answered that your FLAWED question should be asked of your own citizens, instead you want me to answer. So your Eastern donkeys can say foreigners are trying to undermine your system?

Now you answer if China or any other major economy is dependent on global economy for continual growth and lifting millions out of poverty. Do you want your parents or family to be living in poverty because there are no jobs for them? Do you want them to be staging protects because policies have made their lives miserable?

Are you diverting to weather change to siam given direct answer?

Tech: Stop replying to me if you want to continue diverting and refusing to answer a simle Yes or No question. My discussion with you on this is over and closed since you obviously do not understand what I have been writing so far. Continue to dig at me and I guarantee you will join Mike.

  • Western Sheep:

As usual, “forgotton” pretend to read and count.

US: 303 million population, >1 million covid death, 0.33% of population died from covid.

UK: 67 million population, 211k covid death, 0.31% of population died from covid.

If China had followed these “great” western countries, how many would have died?

China: 1425 million population. 0.32% is 4.5 million. Actual covid death: 5k.

“Forgotton” and the western media sibei black hearted. Want to have 4.5 million Chinese die from covid than they happy. knn. F##king bananas.
