Recent new height to COE and latest ABSD hike is the direct result of Ultra-rich families entering into Singapore. While COE does not directly impact majority of non-car owning people and ABSD not affecting those only interested with one property. It indirectly affects our cost of living.

Ultra-rich will not want to wait 1 hr to charge their car. And they have no patience sending their luxury car for servicing. Every 1 to 2 months, just get new models.

This ABSD is trying to make ultra-rich accept Singapore citizenship or PR. Does it make Singaporean better? The Ultra-rich will always and can always change their citizenship like toilet paper. As any objective person would know when entering a casino….the house always win. The odds are deliberately stacked against the players. The PAP had been staking the odds against true blue SGers for decades by importing new citizens who are “hinted” that they must be “loyal” to the country and the govt (i.e. the ruling party). That doesn’t meant that these new citizens aren’t screwed….I knew of new citizens who became too costly…got retrenched and/or forced out of their jobs. Now if they realize the horrible future awaiting their now true blue SG children I am sure they will try to vote for change. But against an avalanche of new citizens eager to proof their “loyalties”, it’s a case of too little, too late. As long as the intake of new citizens can negate the increased in percentage of swing voters who are disgruntled, the status quo stays. So what strategies should enlightened oppies adopted? One, don’t have children or if you have ensure that they got a chance to migrate. Two, marry a foreigner man or woman. So that when the time comes to retire, you get a chance to choose a less stressful, less costly and more enjoyable place for retirement. Three, don’t get sucked into buying big ticket items that require you to slave the next few decades to pay off. Be cash rich with little to no debt. This will give you more options later on if you choose to migrate or retire somewhere else. I pity the SG retirees who slaved a lifetime for their properties, cars and children only to find themselves with little savings in their twilight years. Then to their rude surprise, the children also don’t have money to spare for them because they hardly made enough for themselves and their families. No money, no talk, no options….just waiting to die.
