Her ignorance and detechment from the ordinary Singaporeans

I was initially reluctant to post this commentary because this commentary will expose and shame Denise Phua (DP) about her ignorance and the level of her detechment from the ordinary Singaporeans whom she is supposed to represent in Parliament but the level of her ignorance and stupidity are simply too much for me to bear and let pass without calling her out!
In reply to NMP Leong Mun Wai regarding the affordability of some Tengah flats, among other thing, DP said that if Tengah flats cost about S$140,000/, then it would just take the buyer 1 to 2 years of his/her annual salary to pay it off. ( Please watch and listen carefully to the attached clip and read this paragraph again).
I will be blunt. Shame on you DP.
You are not only an ordinary MP but a pap mayor of Central Singapore too and you have obviously forgotten that not all Singaporeans earn as much as you or even half of what you earn annually. In our local lingo, too many working Singaporeans can’t even smell your annual salary.
You forgot that you are supposed to represent your constituents and speak up for them in Parliament instead in that speech, you were obviously taking reference and talking about yourself.
I congratulate you for doing financially well on one hand and Singaporeans by and large, on the other hand, are a pitiful lot under the current pap government and having MPs such as you.

By paying all MPs and govt executives VERY HIGH SALARIES (Using tax payer money) , these executives dare not open their mouths to object the PAP policies for fear of losing their million dollar salaries.
The common people on the ground are getting very low salaries due to FT import by the hundreds of thousand. When they complained to their MPs, of course there will not be any positive response.

If that someone draws $16K a month, sure can pay $140,000 in cash within two years, and still have money left for renovations and furniture! How about those who only make only $2-3K a month or who are doing gigs or commission-based jobs and have no fixed income? How to pay up in 2 years? The MP should come down to the level of the low income in order to represent them in Parliament instead of pitching to the middle and high income group.

I have another take on this disconnect. There’s also a disconnect between generations. Those born in the 70s and earlier and those born in the 90s and later (the later generations). The earlier gen parents grew up in the golden years of SG and bringing up their children (the later gen) with the assumption that their children’s lives will be equally good as well; with their expensive upbringing and education.
Sadly, many are just oblivious to the hardships that the later gen are going through….sometimes, just to find a job. It comes to the point that the later gen just don’t even want to relate their experiences to their parents. Maybe they felt the shame or hurted pride at their predicaments or simply the apathy from their parents. It’s hard to empathise with the plight of another without being in their shoes even if staying in the same household.
