I read with deep concerns about the news report, “Japan says seawater radioactivity below limits near Fukushima” (Aug 27).
Despite China, South Korea and Russia firmly oppose and condemn Japan’s extremely irresponsible act by releasing treated radioactive water to sea from the Fukushima Daiiachi nuclear power plant, The Japanese government still insists on going its own way, completely ignoring the international community’s appeal for concerted consultation and review of its improper disposal of nuclear wastewater.
This clearly highlights the arrogance and irresponsibility of the Japanese government.
Although Japan claims that seawater radioactivity is below limits near Fukushima, but, the international community has a valid concern – by dumping the nuclear power plant’s treated contaminated waste into the sea will have a far-reaching negative impacts.
It is definitely hazardous to humans and immeasurable marine life. In short, its impacts is devastating.
Anyway, some experts have simulated the trajectory of Fukushima nuclear wastewater which was dumped into the sea (by the tentative schedule ) would only take a short span of time to flow through the earth in a complete circle
Going without say, none of the country in this earth will be able to escape from this monstrous disaster and devastation.
Now, my most pressing concern is, what would be the necessary precautionary measures to be taken by our Government to ensure that our desalination plants will not be affected by the contaminated wastewater?
Also, how would the relevant authorities ensure that our imported marine seafoods will not be contaminated and for safe consumption, as well as the livelihood of our fishermen and fishery importers are duly safeguarded?.
Moreover, if the contaminated wastewater being accidentally or artificially channeled for use in any agriculture and animal husbandries, its negative impacts will be great.

Japan can prove their honesty by feeding the radioactive water to the Japanese/Taiwanese instead of releasing it into the sea. It is a waste of resources isn’t it ?

Whne the Fukushima reactors created fallout – all the animals and plants were significantly affectecc. It was proven that cows showed radioactivity in the milk a few days later. Then the food was also contaminated and this study was also published.
