The centenary of the powerful almighty Lee Kuan Yew
Perception can be quite illusionary myopic depending from which aspect of the political spectrum you view from. There should not be any misperception of illusion in the current over-disingenuous or flattering vehement efforts to immortalise the centenary commemoration of Lee Kuan Yew as a father figure for his so-called farsighted leadership in bringing Singapore to its first class world status today. I I think there was never any doubt that he was perceived as the saviour who brought Singapore to its unprecedented prosperity both locally and internationally.
But nobody could know Lee Kuan Yew’s ideosyncracies better than George Bogaars, his Director of Special Branch and my humble self who had been monitoring him since his return to Singapore after getting his law degree in England. He was highly ambitious as a politician aspiring to become the highest political office holder one day. But he was pitifully lacking having a mass base for his political undertaking and the emergence of Lim Chin Siong as leader of the Communist United Front afforded him the opportunity of latching on to Lim for his massive mass base support. But then it dawned on him that Lim Chin Siong was his Nemesis to his political ambition. He aspired to fill the post of prime minstership but conceded that Lim Chin Siong could be the prime minister instead.
Lee Kuan Yew was fighting a losing battle with the Communists for the hearts and mind of the people And if G|od had not stepped in Lee Kuan Yew and his close allies like Dr. Toh Chin Chye and Dr. Goh Keng Swee would have simply be gobbled up by the Communists. It so happened that God had provided two benefactors in the person of Chief Minister Lim Yew Hock and the Special Branch which saved Lee Kuan Yew from ending his career languishing in prime minister Lim Chin Siong’s gael.
Lim Chin Siong and his Communist allies like DevanNair, James Puthucheary , S. Woodhull and Fong Swee Suan were put away in cold storage by CM Lim Yew Hock and Special Branch and Lee Kuan Yew and his political buddies were given a smooth path to capture power by a landslide victory in 1959 and became the first PAP democratic government in Singapore.
With his pugnacious reputation and political acumen as a people’s fighter Lee Kuan Yew and his buddy comrades were received with such an euphoric welcome that Kee Kuan Yew could only gape with disbelief. Fresh from the hustings they plunged into their monumental task of ameilorating the livelihood of the deprived Singaporeans with a gusto of revolutionary fervour. Over time their undying efforts should tangible results and Singapore gradually evolved into the prosperous nation that it is today.
Is there any flaw in the persona of Lee Kuan Yew or that it was not perceived or were simply glossed over by the public? The flip side of his persona showed a very ruthless and inhuman Lee Kuan Yew possibly arising out of self-preservation from Communist threat in dealing with his political opponents like Chia Thye Poh incarcerated for over thirty years and Dr. Lim Hock Siew for over twenty years. Do you think that eminent historians find this amusing? Could they honestly find in their conscience a ray of justice to write an obituary on Lee Kuan Yew? So was he building his empire on the corpses of vulnerable people like his political opponents?
This was not his only flaw. But just allow his soul to rest in peace.

If you don’t respect Lee kuan yew, you should give up your Singapore citizenship. Because he is the founding father of Singapore. It sad nowadays young generation don’t know about or know little about our founding father lee. This is disgrace and shameful. How can you don’t know your father? Without lee kuan yew, Singapore will still be a fishing village, under Japan ruling. Because of lee kuan yew’s hardworking, we today enjoy world class standard living and got world class government take care of us. Lee kuan yew’s son is now following his father’s love for Singapore. We must ensure he remain our prime minister & pap remaining our government.
Tech: What you post is not entirely correct, but I would leave it to the readers to rebutt you because I have a family dinner tonight to attend.

Not a few sufferred some form of injustices from him but LKY did good for Sg and Sgs together with 1G leaders.
Most of all,Sg and sgs owe a deep gratitude to Dr Goh whose counsel ensured LKY did what was right for the COMMON GOOD.
After 1G left the scene, most of what 1G helped sg-families to attain has been wiped out by bad public policies, who can honestly deny?
RIP,Mr Lee.

Where did you learnt that? LKY worked for the Japanese during the war! After the war, LKY was not even the PM! Please do not bring this up again, you might anger a lot of seniors!
LKY’s son, LHL loves power and wealth nothing about Singapore or Singaporeans! He even go against his father’s will. Did you heard what his sister called him?
Please find out more before coming here to talk nonsense.

God helped LKY? Or did the politicians of that era did what they wanted to, to remain in power and the rest of it is due to cause and effect. A cruel and wick*d man who locked up his opponents for as long as thirty years would not have had a soul. The no. of political opponents who were made bankrupts because he used the Law to get rid of his opponents is his only legacy. Drs. GKS and TCC were the actual architects of building Singapore for Singaporeans. He left behind his son who is an authoritarian and a dictator who refuses to separate the branches of the State and keeps everything under his control. It is most unfortunate that LHY, the younger son of LKY has been made a fugitive like the many opponents of his father. The evilness of LKY, is copied by his eldest son in relentlessly suing his opponents including his own brother. How can Singaporeans think that we are a success story when 86% live in Public Housing and Foreigners are allowed to replace us in jobs? Is this still our land? Our elders in their 80s are still working as security and cleaners. A success story of a State is always about the citizens, not about the GDP or the gleaming buildings. We are third world pretending to be First World. We should remove the son and the PAP to save ourselves and families.

As someone who lived through the Dead Despot’s era of evil. I am sure the Regime is very happy with the 95% of jabbed morons like you who will be replaced by FT and yet will continue to vote for the Regime until you drop dead.

“Could they honestly find in their conscience a ray of justice to write an obituary on Lee Kuan Yew?”
History, as they say, is written by the winners. And we all know who the winner is do we not? So knowing this fact then how does one expect mass media to portray our departed founder as evil imprisoning his ex comrade? Other than social media which none bother with too much you will never read or hear of his other side in either the paper or on tv.
True he was a ruthless mean old bastard son of a gun. What I have noticed from old footage of him was he wasn’t so forceful when black and white footage of him is shown but all of him being forceful was of him in colour. So basically this means from 1959 to roughly the late 70s he chose not to project that authoritarian side of him. Come the 80s when things were a lot more settled out came the legendary suings/lawsuits to various opponents. I guess this comes with confidence and also testing the water when one is dead sure he is safe from any sort of harm.
But his party cannot always be depending on a dead man to tug at the heartstrings because at the end of the day your emotions don’t feed your family, your job does. They got lucky in 2015 so I won’t be surprised they hold the next election in 202 since it will give them an excuse to say that it’s his 10th anniversary and try their luck at seeing how many more sympathy votes they can get.

Following is the people who love the PAP;
1. New citizens- out of gratitude and obligation.
2. Business men- those depend businesses from the PAP. Taxpayers’ money is easy to earn. Like $2 AIM.
3. Crooks- before National Service, crooks joined the army to avoid the police. Now, they join PAP to be protected by PAP police.
4. Foreigners want to be citizens- like Ah Beng, knows nothing talks nonsense to please the PAP.
Ah Beng should be advised, PAP may hate smarter Singaporeans but that doesn’t mean it love stupid foreigners. If this foreigner, Ah Beng, is stupid just don’t show it.

Pragmatists say, practical results, such as our so-claimed now “first world” status, “justify the means (however unjust, even cruel)”. I am no economist, so also read undoubted experts like Kenneth, who dispute the supposed “first world” status. But let’s concede the “status”. Even so, what sort of “success” as a real “democratic society, based on justice and equality”? Eg., no vibrant, contestation for leadership, like LKY’s own lament (how sincerely?) that he was still waiting for someone with a firm shoulder to shunt him aside! People merely “trust”, and, instead of being political educated, admonished by LKY’s own chosen successors to so trust; and so generations of “leadership change” merely imposed upon them, and all the people do, and are admonished to so do, is only to vote, even compelled to vote (thus acknowledging a sufficient majority too complacent or afraid to vote, who surely, since compelled, will do the lazy and safest thing, ie. vote what they are told).

On all account lky is a good man. He is not a beast but he rode a beast. People don’t usually see the differences. Those who love him saw only the good done mostly but those hurt by him swear on his grave.
Since he has overwhelming support in SIN culture, enjoy your ride.

We obsess over our past, and lose track of our future.
That argument is a perfect example of the false analogies that underpin the proponents of the ‘Founder’s Memorial’ at Marina Sands scheduled to open in 2027 with LKY overlooking the two casinos? At least you can rest assured that’s where the pigeons will relieve themselves by and by. Ha ha ha

You missed out the biggest group—those that were brainwashed with fear by the dictator for decades.
Being locked up for decades for their political views was the norm for oppo politicians.
Many suffered.
Others lived in fear for decades.
Many were brainwashed into ‘how vulnerable Sinkieland was’.
The only small country in the world that keep brainwashing their own citizens.
Even today.
There are many other small countries—none do such brainwashing.
Also practiced by NKorea—99% of NKoreans have Stockholm Syndrome
At least 30% of sinkies have Stockholm Syndrome—they love dictator/s.
They will buy his coins, even though he is long dead.
That is why they are selling the coins; and OxleyGate.
