Iswaran’s MP Allowance

Our elected MP’s monthly allowance is S$16,000.
Today, Parliament will deliberate if S. Iswaran (SI) who has been suspended by the pap themselves from all, I repeat, from ALL his ministerial and MP duties and activities because he is assisting the CPIB in their investigation into some corruption cases should continues receiving his MP allowance.
Currently, SI is paid a reduced ministerial salary of S$8,500 and including his MP allowance will come up to S$24,500/ each month for doing nothing. ( Please read this paragraph again).
MP allowance and ministerial salary do not drop like rain from the sky. What they earn are the collective results of many, many, many thousands of Singaporeans’ hard work, long hours of work, overtime work, sacrifices, creativity, innovative work, lesser time spent with their loved ones and much, much more.
Hand to heart, I ask if any one of us is suspended from work due to some CPIB investigation, will we continue to receive from our employer what SI is receiving from the pap government? The answer is so obvious.
So, I ask loudly what is so special about him?
To add salt to insult, too many fellow citizens don’t even earn in one year what SI is currently getting from our money in one month for doing nothing!
I sincerely hope that our parliamentarians are men and women who are made of sterner stuff and clearer conscience and not easily swayed or yield to clever and cunning arguments put forth by anybody to continue paying SI his MP allowance for doing nothing anymore.
However, going forward, his MP allowances could be back paid to him if he is subsequently cleared by the CPIB. I ask loudly too if that is so difficult for the pap government or anyone to accept?
Worse comes to worst, l call on and even challenge the pap government to have the courage to lift its parliamentary whip to enable our parliamentarians to vote on this matter according to their conscience.
Right thinking and patriotic citizens should never allow and tolerate the pap government or any of its members for treating our collective hard-earned money like free spending Santa Claus using it to favour its own kaki.

Isn’t it common sense that if no work is done, there is no payment? It is because the PAP have majority that they want to use our monies to pay their crony. Iswaran should be asked to leave by tendering his resignation. LHL for once did the right thing by removing Iswaran from his Ministrial duty once CPIB reported to him. I don’t see the need for the $8500/-. I also don’t see a need for back pay as no work has been done on behalf of the Public. It is the Public’s monies that are being used in the investigation.

LHL has no powers to remove an MP’s allowance. He reduced the Minister’s allowance to $8500/- because there is a provision in the civil service but not an MP’s allowance. So PSP tried to pass a motion to suspend the allowance but was stopped by IR and PS. However as in TCJ and LP’s cases the party can ask or make them resign to safeguard taxpayers’ monies as no work is being done by Iswaran. Will the PAP do it immediately or are they going to bleed the Public for months and maybe years? The ball is in their court and the onus to sack Iswaran is on them.

In all fairness, Iswaran should be PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty. He has not even been charged in court, everything against him is just pure allegations and the ONLY avenue to convict him is the courts.
We all know that it is so easy to hurl baseless allegations against anyone, like how the lao aunties made AWARE that Tan Kin Lian is a supposed colorwolf.
The LEEder only suspended Iswaran’s ministerial duty, I don’t recall Iswaran being suspended of his MPship, which the LEEder has no power to do so, only Clubhouse can do that. Until then, he remains a duly elected MP. So cry father cry mother all you want, he should be paid his MP allowance.
In Sinkieland, a person can be “under investigation” for the most anak anak of reasons and these investigations take months or maybe even years to complete, like how Pritam case is “under investigation” for almost a year now, why not also cry father cry mother on his LOO allowance?
For example, some one slapped me and I lodged a report. A responsible IO ,may immediately decide its VCH and refer me to Small Claims, case closed. For a newbie IO, he may decide to detain the suspect, released him on bails for several months and then decide its VCH (non-seizable offence). So during these few months, would it be fair to suspend that someone for an anak anak case?
So IMHO, as long as a person is not officially charged in court, he should not be assumed to be guilty and pre-mature action taken against him.
Anyway, I would guess that Iswaran’s case would be completed just before the next GE, so about 1 year to go. At most waste 1 year of his MP allowance nia, if he is charged, so sup sup the water compared to what Temasick and GIC have lost over the years. lol

Except that Iswaran himself is not attending Parliament or doing any work in his constituency. So isn’t this an absent without leave situation? So LHL as the leader of the PAP and the PM should ask for Iswaran’s resignation. The priority and onus should be on saving taxpayers’ monies and Iswaran can be said to have absconded from Parliament.

Disagree on the suspension of PS and FM as theirs is not a criminal act and it can be read as the PAP using RK to attack them. There is no loss to the Public. In Iswaran ‘s case CPIB has given their findings to the PM and based on their report Iswaran was relieved from his Ministrial duties and access to govt. departments has been denied. So basing on LHL’s judgement, Iswaran should be asked to step down as an MP at party level. By not asking for the resignation, it seems like they are helping him keep his MP’s remuneration which is unfair to the Public.

Then it was confirmed later by Low, who stated on record that the WP was contended to be just the co-driver.
