19th Asian Games in Hangzhou 2023 Opening Ceremony

Full video of the 19th Asian Games Opening Ceremony in Hangzhou 2023, narration in Chinese.

The much-anticipated 19th Asian Games Hangzhou are underway after a stunning Opening Ceremony on Saturday (23 September) evening in the eastern Chinese city.

This Asian Games can count on more than 12,000 athletes from all 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia, an expected increase of around 700 athletes from the last Asian Games held in Indonesia in 2018.

The Hangzhou Asian Games is a self-declared "green" and "smart" Games; no fireworks were let off in the city during the Opening Ceremony in accordance with this, although impressive digital technology allowed television viewers to see AI-generated fireworks on the broadcast.

The Opening Ceremony was divided into three chapters: "Timeless Grace", "Tidal Bore of the Qiantangjiang River", and "Together Towards the Future", and the Games were opened by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.

Ye Shiwen, Fan Zhendong, Xu Mengtao, Shi Zhiyong, Li Lingwei and Wang Shun completed the last six legs of the torch relay. Wang, the men's 200m individual medley champion at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and the "virtual digital torchbearers" representing participants in the online torch relay lit the main torch of the Hangzhou Asian Games, bringing a successful conclusion to the ceremony.

China has indeed advanced broadly, from economics to sports.
Its not whether but when that China will be the largest global economy.
By then Angmohs will flock back to China ,like it or not.
    India?
It started way before China took the leap under DENG.
Still lagging behind and likely continue ro be so.

    China must be more open.
She must lead Asia as a “partner” and good neighbour.
There is likely going to be A GOLDEN AGE for Asia led by China.
Angmohs can wish what they like.
China will be stronger next 7/10 years.

  • I watched the ceremony on our widescreen TV, it was spectacular. The effects are jaw-dropping and the technology used, probably beyond this world!

I wonder if compared to the NDP in Sinkieland, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much would you give the NDP?

  • Sg can only buy:

Technologies and show off we are advanced country.

But sg has made severe wrong decision on not installing Huawei 5G but the half baked Ericsson and Nokia.
It’s cheap to upgrade Huawei equipment from 4G to 5G but very expensive to change from Huawei equipment to Ericsson/Nokia.

The event is well organised and executed, it is a good example to be emulated!

According to some city officials whom I drink with, the cost for the opening ceremony alone is about one year of the salary that Mdm Ho is purportedly drawing.

The most expensive items on the list are the digital panels that they used to cover the pitch in the stadium that created all those stunning backdrops and virtual effects. It is said that those panels are custom-made and cost anywhere in the 8-figure range to cover the entire field.

    Very impressive indeed.
