Smart Nation Project
The prime minister launched the Smart Nation project in November 2014. Several ministers were put in charge of this project over the past 9 years. GovTech became a part of this project in May 2017.
This project was supposed to transform Singapore by using digital technology to improve productivity and quality of life in Singapore.
Its record had been not promising. The digital transformation has led to many failures, including the following:
1. Singapore became the "most scammed" nation
2. People are now worried about clicking on any web link or scanning a QR code, in case they download a malicious app.
3. The Pay Now platform is not working well, as it led to losses through hacked bank accounts and the regular failures of payment platforms.
4. A large sum was spent on ERP 2.0 which was unnecessarily and produced a worse outcome than the existing platform.
Several strategic mistakes were made by the people in charge of the Smart Nation project. These mistakes have contributed to the slow adoption of digital processes.
These mistakes include:
1. Asking customers to sign in to websites to retrieve documents
2. Linking Pay Now to bank accounts
3. Over emphasis on privacy (when privacy is not important).
If we wish to achieve the goal of a Smart Nation, we need to address the mistakes and find a new way forward.

A smart nation needs 2 decades and splashed $556 million to come up with toys in the dash boards of cars, which functions are not better than the the existing ones!! And the clowns have the cheeks to tell you that you have the option to opt out if you find that one of the toys is ugly!!

Too much scam now…Singapore seem a easy target for them.
So easy to wipe out CPF and Bank accounts clean…
Obviously present measures does not work…the scam victim bears all the losts.
Make CPF/Banks/MAS bears 40% of all losts and you will see real action by them…
The systems should have stop all transactions when encountered obvious abnormal activities and initiate 2nd defence against fraud which does not happen now..
Maybe call the victim or get them to the branch to confirm before such abnormal transaction go through…

Mr Tan
You make sense in this. I dont know much about this, but can a hawker stall scam customers by having a hidden mal app behind their payment app or QR. I am a small biz owner and do not like to have digital transfers for my biz bank acc, I still like to issue payments by cheque for sizeable amount, but am now sort of force to do so with the chq fees imposed starting Nov. Nothing else I can do but obey

The size of an ERP system in China is about the dimension of a packet of Marlboro ciggy. Once installed, all one needs is to insert a credit or UnionPay card into it, and forget all about it. Just remember to pay the cc bill or make sure enough fund in bank account.
It is also solar powered with a piece of battery acting as standby power source. No need to use the car’s electricity system at all.
I heard that those in Sinkieland come in 2 or 3 separate units, all have to be installed, are bulky and their dimensions are the size of a 48v lead acid battery used in large trucks. I also heard that some certain cash card needs to be acquired.
Someone please tell me that this is a joke, right?

How else will the Regime give BIG contracts to their stupid friends and family and make it look legit? Even bin centers cost more then $500 000. All going to a ‘good cause’. Hee hee.
