PAP is KILLING the SMEs in Singapore which are the biggest employers of Singaporeans!
Local SMEs in Singapore employ about 70% to 80% of Singaporeans but when PAP gov mess up with the inflation rate in SG, it puts pressure on SMEs to increase wages of Singaporeans to counter the high inflation rate regardless of whether these SMEs are making money or not!
Worse still, productivity rates are negative for the pass years. While PAP claims that wages should only grow in tandem with productive growth, PAP just contradicted itself by asking SMEs to increase wages inspite of negative productive situation!
They are just pushing the responsibility to SMEs to mitigate the sufferings of Singaporeans from the high inflation rate which is largely due to PAP's irresponsible act of increasing GST, water taxes, other indirect taxes like high COE prices as well as high housing costs in a disastrous mismanagement of the economic situation!
If more SMEs went bust, the ultimate victims would be Singaporeans who were employed by these companies!

Even profitability cannot be easily measured. Companies hide their profit in tax free subsidiaries. HDB hide its profits in SLA. By implication, all the HDB employees have negative productivity. What they produce cannot cover cost.

Rent is simply irrationally exuberant here,benefitting the govt coffers as well as the rich at the grave expense of common sgs.
Daft policies like FTs at all costs and highly elevated COST OF LIVING make life a living hell for many ordinary sgs especially the elderly and jobless citizens.
Profit-maximisation is crucifying many with pain and agony,mental or otherwise.
Its not that our prices do not cover cost of operation plus profit,its that our PRICES ARE SIMPLY TOO ELEVATED AND PROFITEERING OVER RAMPANT even with the govt?
So,prices can be brought down and the way to start is to bring down RENT that kills small businesses and the poor.

We have the whole world to choose cheap labour from so not surprising there are more and more companies supplying manpower to whoever needs them in their contracts and services.

The cannibalising of SMEs by big companies and even GLCs(TH ,NTUC,etc) will lead to even HIGHER INCOME INEQUALITY between the Haves and have-nots.
Ordinary sg families will continue to have lowering of standard of living amidst a higher and higher COL environment.
Even that humble packet of nasi-lemak will slowly be out of reach to poor elderly and many common sgs.
Already,a plate of chicken rice in food centres costs $5? Upwards?!

However,many senior civil servants use their positions to influence colleagues to do favours for friends and relatives.
SPF officers are lacking in integrity except for a few.
If law enforcers lack integrity,there is disorder.

Case one
My fren was offered a job. The lady told him to start next day. He asked if there was any employment letter to be signed. Silence. So he said he won’t start till he had seen the contract. Next day, the lady boss passed him the contract. Everything seemed ok. He started work. She asked him to use his personal e-mail for office correspondence. He asked her when his office email will be set up. Silence. For the two days, the lady boss was rather ill mannered and brusque.
The next day, my fren called and told her, he won’t be working for her. She went :”so disappointing!” And she did not pay him nor inform her contacts to stop sending him business emails to his personal a/c.
Case two
Lady boss depressed my fren’s expected salary with her kind offer. Feeling dissatisfied, he decided to try it out. The foreigner worker set up his computer in such a way that the display page was sideways. He told the FT so. But he did not rectify. He noticed they gave him the oldest computer, you know the kind that was used during the 1990s. And it was 2012!
The office girl did not provide any stationery, despite him having asked for it.
So he basically did whatever the boss asked. He noticed the boss was a micro manager. She will sit next to him in the open office and observe his work.
After a week, Lady boss say want to terminate. My fren agreed and asked for one week’s pay. After all, he did what was asked. The boss tried to evade payment saying his contribution was nothing. But in the end, she reluctantly agreed to pay. My fren also asked her to remove the clause that he cannot work for other companies in the industry. At first she refused. When my fren said he did not gain any client contacts from her. She finally agreed .
So these are some of the SMEs that are out there. And I can understand why people don’t want to work for them or staff turnover is high.
