Singapore does not allow citizens to publicly express their feelings about the genocide now being committed on Palestinian soil. Even Hong Lim Park will not permit one person standing there holding a little placard in his hands. While people of other capital cities protest in the thousands, we will never know if Singaporeans are apathetic to the killings that are going on in Gaza. But I hope Singaporeans are keeping track of what is happening as how the war is fought affects us all.
I am glad former president, Madam Halimah Yacoh expressed her humanity in a facebook post yesterday. At least we have one important Singaporean speaking up and calling for a ceasefire in the terms of the UN General Assembly Resolution. [LINK]
Scrolling through the comments on her post, I can see that unlike the comments on AlJazeera facebook post, the majority are pro Palestinians. And many are Singaporeans. There are some provocative statements but the authors seemed to be the usual trolls spouting standard fare.
Singapore is one of Israel’s staunchest allies. Our army is trained by Israel. The interrogation techniques are taught by them. One of the facts that I learned about the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) in recent days is the practice of killing their own soldiers, hostages and civilians in hostile situations. The implementation of the Hannibal Directive is evident in the destruction of the Be’eri Kibbutz on 7 October. Netanyahu has blamed HAMAS for the death of 1400 people. But according to a survivor of the massacre, over 100 were massacred by the IDF itself. [LINK]
“A resident later told The Times of Israel that the kibbutz was "completely destroyed". Yasmin Porat, an Israeli inhabitant of Be'eri, said in an interview that Hamas held her and other hostages for two days, until Israeli Defense Forces arrived on 9 October. Porat said Israeli soldiers killed hostage takers and hostages alike, and that an Israeli tank blasted buildings in which hostages were held. According to another resident who was away at the time," at least 112 Be'eri people were killed" during the fighting.
Until today, neither Netanyahu or the IDF has admitted that they have killed their own citizens on 7 Oct. I hope the Singapore Army will never use the Hannibal Directive should they ever encounter war, which I hope will never happen in this region.
The IDF is and has been on Palestinian ground for a few days now. I will not be surprised if they have sacrificed Israeli hostages in order to achieve the of aim of exterminating all Palestinians, including babies and women. They have vowed to take Palestine.
But will they succeed? HAMAS is fighting for their lives. They prefer death to losing their land or living under oppressive Israel. Will Israeli soldier have the gumption to carry on this long war as Netanyahu has warned.
To me, it is better to end this genocide and talk peace now. Let the International Criminal Court prosecute the war crimes committed by both parties. Collective punishment is a war crime and Netanyahu should pause and examine where he and his army have gone wrong and not take it on the poor Palestinian civilians. Don’t blame a big military bungle on civilians. Have the courage to admit that it has failed the Israeli population on 7 October. More than 9000 have died. How many more deaths do they need to inflict on the Palestinians, the hostages and the Israeli army itself.

ICC is known as a western attack puppy. It goes after only non-western countries. In spite of the overwhelming public evidence and even POTUS admission of brutal, barbaric, demonic war crimes in Iraq, ICC did nothing.
ICC will also do nothing against Israel.
Tech: Actually this is not entirely true. The ICC has spoken against Israel in the latest conflict accusing them of war crimes and possible genocide. Israel is not a signatory to the ICC, but Palestine is. So the ICC can investigate events that are happening in Palestine (Gaza), but not in Israel. A lot of technicalities involved and justice may not come instantly, it may take decades to see action. I would say the ICC is the equivalent of UN, mostly NATO but once in a blue moon, it gets things done.
As far as the current conflict in Gaza is concerned, there can be no immediate solution to the genocide that Israel is committing through such proper channels, because of the US. Best hope for the Palestinians in Gaza is for capable countries like Turkey or some Arab nations to get involved militarily, best be Hezbollah, who IMHO opinion should set boots in Israel and not just restrict itself to throwing snowballs over the border.

No doubt there are true terrorists in the world, for example, ISIS. Nelson Mandela was labeled by the US as a terrorist because he was inter alia, fighting for the rights of the Black South Africans to exist, which the US then did not like. He went on to become the President of South Africa. Do you also agree that he was a terrorist because the US said so?
I could go on a lengthy discussion with you as to why Hamas is not a true terrorist in the strictest sense of the word, but you appear to take the US accusations at face value, irrational and adamant that it is the gospel truth, so I see pointless to waste time.
Point to ponder: Only Israel, US and UK (another country, can’t remember which ) label Hamas as a terrorist organisation, Malaysia and most of the world’s countries (including non-Muslims) refused to label Hamas as a terrorist organisation, why?
BTW, Turkey, which has one of the strongest military in NATO has labeled Israel as a terrorist state. Turkey has vowed to take Israel to the International War Tribunel court try them for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Back home, the Israelis have labeled Net and Yahoo as a criminal (corruption, abuse of power, etc etc etc) and was about to try him when the Oct 7 killings saved his a$$e. Are you aware of all this?

SG voted for a “humanitarian truce” at the UN (Unrighteous Nations) meeting. So how can you say that Singaporeans don’t care? SG even sent aids to the Palestinians. Of course, PAP must also play to the Muslim gallery at home and in the neighboring countries. Who can be the best person to do it than the former unelected Indian-Muslim President. However, our SAF owes it to Israel for its formation, and SG is still an ally of Israel. So don’t expect SG to sanction Israel like it did with Russia. What’s the point of holding pro-Palestinian protests in HLP? It’s not going to change anything. Instead it will only lead to division and religious tension. Be more sensible lah!

It will be interesting to share your thoughts on why you think Hamas is not a true terrorist group when it killed so many unarmed innocent civilians – women, children and eldrly on Oct 7.

What happened din Sri lankan should not happen again. In 2008 Sri lankan final war, the USA and few countries with their obsession on the war on terror.post 9/11 annihilated the the tamil tiger rebels. It’s a decision USA and India will later regret . Other than the tragedy of innocent civilians being killed, we have no say over what goes on over there.
People who are responsible for causing it, and those who are responsible for stopping it (if they could) are making their own decisions beyond our ability to stop them or say anything about it.
The Middle East doesn’t care much for what the MiW is doing to this country, so why do we engage in telescopic philanthropy?
And most terrorists from Islamic State (funded by CIA + Mossad), to Muslim Brotherhood (funded by MI6+ Qatar), to Hamas (funded by Mossad) are created to manipulate and control populations they want to divide and conquer.

The West has succeeded in labelling freedom fighters as terrorists. So many in TRE are repeating this. Hamas was elected by the Palestinians in GAZA and not the Palestinian govt. of Abbas. Hamas must have been taking care of their needs to be elected. Hostage taking and exchanging for prisoners is an ongoing occurrence in certain parts of the world though we may condemn it. In the Philippines this practice is ongoing. Netanyahu needs to be taken down and this should be done by the Israeli citizens themselves.A Zionist killed the peace loving PM Rabin so the Israeli’s themselves should remove their PM. I don’t know much about Nelson Mandela to know if he was a terrorist or not. Hamas launched a premeditated attack on innocent civilians – an act of terror. Israel first announced it was going to war with Hamas before it launched its offensive. Significant difference between the terrorists and a professional army. Israel is not responsible for civilians deaths in Gaza if Hamas uses them as human shields. IDF made itself clear. It’s primary target is Hamas not the civilian population. If they chose to remain with their fighters and suffer collateral damage, there is no blood on Israeli hands because the civilians have been warned to leave the area. I do not agree with the shedding of innocent blood; not like what Hamas did on Oct 7. Certainly not.
