This Megaproject Will Crush Singapore’s Maritime Dominance

Singapore has long reigned as the undisputed global hub port. Yet, the winds of change whisper of Thailand's audacious land bridge megaproject, a potential game-changer that could alter the tides for Singapore. As this colossal endeavour charts a new trade route, bypassing Singapore's port, the age-old maritime giant faces an uncertain future.

Will the land bridge script a new era, relegating Singapore to history, or will the city-state's maritime legacy stand resilient?

Maybe or …..not! There will always be competition.

When will the above be completed ?

Just look at HK …. 从乱到治到興 ? From what we observed so far, its the opposite.

  • Harder Truths:

Nothing is forever. $inkieland will perish one day and return to the fishing village it once was – even worse for the littered with decaying infrastructure and slums. The FT will return to their native lands. The Regime will have abandoned the people to their fate and gone to their new homes already made ready for them in real fist world countries. The locals will just have to get used to killing each other to survive. Who asked them to be so stupid?

But Freemasons want China’s oil supply to go through Straits of Singapore. Where there is US Navy.

This will not be PAP’s problem.

By the time this land bridge in operation, may be in 10 years time, PAP will be long gone.

Any way PAP will not has any idea for counter measures. This lazy government only has one act and one act only, increase TAX.

    Highest pay but simplest jobs!

Ultimately it is all about cost for commercial entities. Who cares where the US Navy is based? They don’t keep our waters safe from pirates.

  • Spineless Sinkie Syndrome:

Don’t worry too much about this “land bridge” over Thailand lah.

IMO, this will only impact Sinkiepore, IF and only if they cut a complete 100% waterway through as per their original Kra Canal proposal back long ago in 1700s… according to their historians. Talk so long still nothing. Lol.

Their current alternative “cost-saving” concept of offloading container shipments to land trucks or cargo trains and then transfer back onto ships again is a stupid idea just to save just a little time.

In the end, shippers will still end up preferring to go round Straits of Malacca than do that roundabout logistics complexity.

Just look at the world map, and you can compare versus Panama Canal, it makes a HUGE difference in cutting through to join the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, rather than making a long roundabout on the continent of South America. Hence, they went ahead despite the huge costs involved.

In Sinkiepore versus Thai Kra case, it shaves off just a marginal difference in shipment times.
So its obvious digging a full water-bourne Kra Canal transport may not be worth the investment.

Now, the more serious concern or threat to Sinkiepore’s pole position as a trans-shipment hub will be melting ice caps in the Northern Polar regions… which will allow standard container ships to rapidly go directly from Europe and US ports to Asia and bypassing the Straits of Hormuz and our Malacca Staits. It would even make the Thais look more stupid, because imagine they take decades to finally complete their Kra Canal but then the Northern Sea Ice all meelted and so their Kra Canal become White Elephant. Yes?/No? LOL.

No Climate Scientist can tell when (if ever) the Northern Polar shipping lanes will be largely free of ice. It could be within the next 50 or 300 years later.

In either case, whether they go ahead with Kra Canal and take 50 years to complete (Kra is more difficult than Panama and assuming modern technology cuts down half-time for the 100 years for Panama to complete), OR the Northern Polar Ice melts in 50 years… by then probably most of us won’t be around anymore to worry about it lah.

That’s why I say from the start: Don’t need to worry about this Kra lor. If you are 95% of SSS Sinkie who took the “vaxxines”, you should worry more about “dying suddenly” than be concerned about Kra lah. Yes?/No? LOL.

We can go back to being a fishing village.
Lee Ah Long is sotong,an arrogant sotong.
So easy pea$y to just collect more money to build all his wasteful “jewel$”.

Still even educated young sgs are happily getting conned.

Well,we wait and see if Lee Ah Long’s FTs will remain to help or run away as quickly as they were dumped here.

Banks and insurers should not get involved with any project to transport oil across Kra or Malay peninsula.

Germany did not even dare to complain when Nordstream was blown up. Sweden did not dare to reveal evidence of whoever did it.

After completion how Thai or if some organisation manage efficiently or productively , another issue. Both software and hardware.

Then will the Southern militants or insurgents of Thailand launched terrorist attack like Pakistan ? Who exactly knows.

Learn from the smart Singaporeans. Sell your properties and rent. This is the way to protect your savings when property prices collapsed. The smart ones know what they are doing. Look no further.

Think you are right. China stupid, never let property prices to go up and up, never protect developers and let them go bankrupt. Their property prices cannot go up and up and make owners become millionaires. And they so stupid, kept their inflation at -1%. And their economy going bust, only 5% GDP growth. So low!!!

American economy so strong, 1% solid growth!!! And inflation only 5%!!! Singapore economy also very strong, 1% growth and inflation only 3%. And property prices shooting to the sky, all become millionaires, and property developers laughing to the bank.

You are so clever, and so right.
