Do you know what’s wrong with this illustration?

Let me go through the contradictions:

1) LTA claims that it's "expensive" to maintain multiple platforms but the truth is, even after 1 June, the public transport system is still maintaining 3 cards usage, aka Simply Go, Nets Prepaid and contactless Visa or bank cards!

2) LTA owns 2 cards aka SimplyGo & EZ link cards. Even after 1 June, Both cards are still functional but EZ can only be used for ERP and carpark! That's a total regression to the past when Nets Cash Card was first pushed out! Most importantly, since Transitlink still runs the two systems for the two cards, what "cost savings" are they talking about?

3) If it's about cost saving, a wallet cards like SimplyGo will need the system to check with the backend server on the availability of funds in the card before users can gain entry while store value cards can show that value instantly. So I wonder how can managing such a simpler system more expensive than the wallet card system?

4) The reason why EZ link card and Nets Flash are the only cards usable for ERP and carpark is precisely because they do not need instant verification of value via network to the backend servers! Those Wallet cards can't be used basically because it will be too expensive and technically challenging for ERP and carpark systems to conduct immediate instant connection for verification.

I really don't know what's going on here. Seriously, something is not right with such decision to replace EZ link and Nets Flash with SimplyGo.

As you can see from the illustration, both EZ link and Nets Flash are the most convenient cards for interchangeability of usage in all three domains currently. PAP gov is really regressive!

  • Common sense:

Common sense to make one card for all to make it convenient for end user…not how difficult or costly to do.
If this team can’t do,replace them with one that can.
Just do it or simply go away…

Long story short. LTA screwed up big time in forcing all to use SimplyGo leading to SimplyNO. Their arrogance, just like PAP, will not allow them to apologise for the most glaring of mistakes which is showing the amount left on one’s card. One step forwards 2 back you might say.

And to add insult to injury they wayang some more by saying that the don’t know what Nets card or whatever it’s called has been POSTPONED imagine that. Too proud to admit that this is a major F-up just like you know who when they lose GRCs.

And that isn’t even the end of the story some more you know. You try and upgrade your card at a fare machine there is a nice sign telling you that “upgrades” are in progress so cannot use. Sounds to me more like a bloody downgrade than an upgrade!

nd there you have it, LTA is run by idiots, clowns and donkeys. Can’t even get a bus rationalisation done properly and now commuters are inconvenienced by their ineptness in changing over to SimplyGo oh no no!!!

  • Harder Truths:

The reason is the Regime is going to a cloud-based system to track you in real-time, together with how this information is correlated with your other personal data. They cannot do that with the current system. They tried something similar during CoVID as a precursor system. This new system will ‘upgrade’ your card so they know where you are, what you are doing, your travel habits and other infromation 24/7. Welcome to the total surveillance state.

While the regime upgraded towards a total digital monitoring master.

Our life is definitely going to be harder. The young people have a long way to go for the coming hard life technology will bring them.

Can you imagine when you buy nasi lemak, the hawker tell you tap your bank card and SIMPLY PAY!?

When you ask how much it is, the hawker ask you to go download his stall’s apps and you can check how much the amount is and track your history patronizing his stall, and you can dispute the amount mischarged by submitting a payment review request via the apps and wait?

When you argued this is absurd, he tells you that his nasi lemak customer many many, and 3 second wait is too much for him?

And he tell you you can always buy from another nasi lemak stall if you are unhappy about it. But the thing is, public transport in Singapore, do you have a choice?

I agree with Harder Truths, this whole thing is to monitor individual movements patterns. It helps to locate you if you commit crime. Definitely. 10m population, it will be hard for police to catch you if they cannot track you.
