We Have A Bloated Government Which Needs To Be Drastically Cut Down In Size!
LKY used to boast that he ran a trim government. No fat whatsoever.
That can’t be said of the present PAP government. From part-time mayors to Coordinating Ministers, our government has become too large and wasteful for a tiny nation.
I dare say that 95% of Singaporeans think that the 5 Mayors are a total waste of money, each costing the taxpayers $660,000 per annum.
Next, there is absolutely no need for Coordinating Ministers! I first came across the concept of Coordinating Ministers in Indonesia when I lived and worked there. In Indonesia, there perhaps is the need for them because of the sprawling bureaucracies and ministries which administer the huge Archipelago of 275 million people. The Ministers can often be pulling in different directions because their political affiliations are different as they belong to different political parties. So the President may need his 3 Coordinating Ministers to coordinate and keep his agenda on track.
But lo and behold,in the last decade,the PAP imported the Indonesian concept of Coordinating Ministers into our government. Whatever for????? Do the Ministries need so much coordination? Especially when all the Ministers are from the same party?
I reckon that we can easily reduce the size of our government by 30-35%!
When a new non-PAP government takes over, one of its first priorities has to be to cut down the bloated bureaucracy and the 1st target should be the 5 redundant Mayors!
That will save the Singapore taxpayers tons of money!

Take the distribution of coupons.
First of all, it is an extra job created for some political purpose. Direct cash distribution will be the best option.
Second, an NS sergeant can do this job.
There is some news that “enterprising businesses” are accepting these coupons, likely at a big discount to its value. Fake-smart politicians replace cash with coupons.

When I worked in China, many years back, I had 100 over staff do simple jobs, that was because it was cheap.
But in PAP government, it’s not only bloated but also very expensive doing simple jobs!
However, I understand why! Guarding closets of skeletons is very expensive. Also the cost of loyalty is not cheap. Saying “YES” may be easy, but very expensive.
