A greeting or statement that is intended to be politically correct may seem seductive but is in fact damaging to its audiance and in this case, the Chinese people and its culture.

The Workers’ Party in wanting to stand out from the rest and be politically correct is such an ignorant idiot when they chose to use lunar new year instead of Chinese New Year in their greeting to the Han Chinese here who make up 75 % of the population. This is an insult to the chinese here.

Why ?

The Chinese invented their own calendar and the 12 animal zodiac.

China is the sphere of influence to her immediate southern neighbours.

The japanese, koreans (North & South), vietnamese are of the same race belonging to the chinese stock. They borrowed China Han chinese customs and adapted into their cultures.

China invented and produce silk.

The discovery of the silk route began in China and ended in europe.

The japanese and koreans buy silk and also learnt how to make them from the chinese for their kimonos and hanboks.

They borrowed alphabet from the chinese characters and incorporated it into their writings.

They followed the chinese in using chopsticks, lanterns, kung fu martial arts, chinese medicine and occupuncture, noodles making and eating tofu.

New Year celebration is vehemently characterised all over in Han chinese customs and culture. From the colour RED ( imperial palace colour in the forbidden city), lion and dragon dances, angpow and mandarin exchanges, good luck ambigrams to writing chinese calligraphy on door posts, fireworks and fire crackers, reunion dinners and “chap gor mei”.

Not surprisingly then the japanese, koreans, vietnamese and others around the region also adopted the chinese zodiac and calendar as their own to track, calculate and record time.

The lunar peoples ( ethnic tribes in IndoChina, Himalayan, mongolian, tibetan, japanese, korean, vietnamese, thai and others of the chinese stock ) adopted Han chinese customs, religion and traditions as they have no history and customs of their own.

So as in all things originating in China, its “new year” should be rightly called “Chinese New Year”.

It is widespread and known only as CHINESE NEW YEAR in Europe, Canada and America today.

Why kay khiang lunatic and change it to lunar new year ? ❓

5,000 years of chinese history and civilization should not be hijacked by others as their own calling it with another name “lunar” new year.

We celebrate and stoutly call it CHINESE NEW YEAR is to remind us of its origin and to preserve and pass on its traditions to the future generations unaldulterated.

However many other people love things chinese and hijacked them as their own.

In India today, Tamil Nadu and other states borrowed some Chinese cultures like hanging of colourful lanterns, setting of fire crackers and fireworks on diwali and other festivities.

The muslims and hindus in SEA not wanting to be seen left behind the richness of chinese tradition and culture have also followed the chinese in the tradition of giving Ang Pows, have themselves adopted the Green Pows and the Purple Pows respectively ( NTUC supermarts initiated it to their shoppers)

If they can’t hijack, they will prey.

In the course of testing it, these customers would always rest their hands holding the tea cup on their knees, there comes the special phrase “ chay knees “ and spread to the world over hundreds of years.

The India zodiac’s animals are the 神兽 or 坐骑 of India’s 12 gods. And why was the rat or mouse number 1 ? Because it is the first one to attained enlightment or 得道 or 立地成佛 !

The 12 animals were used to replace the 12 planets in teaching the influence of the planetary system to peasants and the uneducated by the knowledgeable scholars of that period. They were excellent teachers as we, today still use the animals to identify the year.

Base on logic its reasonable and believable why India chose and rank rat as first.

Whereas for China , given the Chinese character 大中华胶 大中华民族主义 ….its impossible they will chose a rat and rank as first. More likely a dragon or tiger. If say 农业社会, then a cow or horse or rooster. The Chinese scold people also use words like rats, dogs , pigs, snake e.g. 鼠輩, 过街老鼠, 猪狗不如, 蛇鼠一窝, ….. See a rat immediately whack. Especially the rat sneak in and makan the grains fruits foods.
