LMW Resigns as SG of PSP because of POFMA?
My goodness!
It's actually a badge of honor in his case and there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of nor apologetic about.
PAP Ministers have made serious mistakes before, like broken promises on World Cup for Singapore team, over spending on events or basically screw up on PMD, SimplyGo, No Need To Wear Mask, No need social distancing policies etc... The list goes on but none of them has resigned over any of these.
Even verbal blunders are excused. Verbal blunders which have caused serious tension in diplomatic relations were also excused.
What is such little POFMA politicking so serious that LMW has to resign as SG of PSP?
As far as I can see, LMW is the Star of PSP who will bring victory to his team.
Even friends of mine who are supporters of PAP conceded that LMW has brought up hot button issues in Parliament and they would vote for him if he contests in their wards!
It is really a political suicide for PSP to allow its rising Star to be sliced into pieces.
Such Moral OCD or Mysophobia is really totally unnecessary.
As the wiseman says, even LKY had said this, the best way not to make any mistake is to do nothing at all!
LMW is definitely viewed as a Real Threat to PAP, so much so that PETIR, PAP's party newsletter, had written a whole story on LMW's POFMA! PETIR even tries so hard to shift the blame of the compromise of couple's privacy to the public when it was its own Party minister who is the one who disclose their private CPF data!
It is with great dismay to watch my good comrade in Democracy to fall like that.
No one takes POFMA seriously anymore when PAP weaponize it for its political agenda and abuse it with excessive attacks on its critics.
It's really unnecessary to take responsibility over POFMA when majority of Singaporeans don't really take it seriously!

The fact that Leong can resign so easily shows that he is not doing his job (as an oppo) and is not taking his responsibility seriously. In politics, there are always 2 sides to a coin; not everyone is expected to agree with one another, regardless of which party he/she comes from. His matter, “the aid” Is a matter of perception, I may think that food vouchers from temples do not constitute “aid” and if every oppo has to resign because of POFMA, then there is no need to wait for the next GE,
So, instead of an election writ, just issue POFMA causing leaders like Kenneth, Lim Team and Goh to resign, all oppos would have been taken “good care of”, no need for election because all have resigned.
BTW, heard Dr Chee also kenna POFMA, so when is he going to resign and take responsibility like Leong?

A very strategic and respected act which helps highlight the shortcomings of the group think gang residing in Pappy’s ivory tower.This move clearly displays before SG voters the difference between one who acknowledges acceptance of the wrong and take appropriate actions just to be accountable,and those from Pappies camp who were evasive with the hope that the matters would magically disappear.It’s interesting to see how many more GRCs Pappies will loose in the coming GE.

Without good public criticisms that may not sound good nor feel good,our elected leaders would tend to make erratic and errant policies that are going to impact many ordinary sgs negatively.
Public Scrutiny plus the accompanying public criticisms are good INPUTS to the G to ensure deficient public policies and policy practices corrected.
Sad our top scholar-gahmen shove away public criticisms that might help prevent national problems.
For example,the way COVID’S RESILIENCE/DOLIDARITY BUDGET$’ ALLOCATIONS NEED TO BE DISCOURSED MORE ROBUSTLY so that bona fide Sg Citizens get an equitable share of such distributed SGS’ RESERVES vis-a-vis FTs/PRs.

This resignation makes the ruling party look really bad as no one resigns. Tharman $50billion loss in MAS, resigned and became President. VB numerous lies like the Youth Olympics, the trace together etc. He is still in the cabinet. How about the KOM case? No Minister resigned.$440m fine. So LMW’s resignation raises the accountability bar of the ruling party. It is a well played political manoeuvre by PSP by TCB. The ball is now in the PAP court.

The fact that Mun Wai resigned as boss shows HE IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS, can any PAP monkey say the same? You hear Chee Hong resign as Transport Minister over SimplyGo? While some may think it’s a bit extreme for Leong to resign over this we can also say why has a minister never resigned when things go wrong?
Leong made a mistake because there was no way he could have known the couple were lying to him since he would not have access to whichever ministry was assisting them financially. So no choice but to believe in whatever they say lor. You can it was his over eagerness to highlight how little PAP had done for those in need but he also failed to cover his own backside for this case.
Nevertheless, lesson learnt. I’m guessing he will stick to issues that he can press the donkeys for and we can look forward to seeing more arguments over other issues up until the next election.
Whether he gets another term as NCMP depends on whether PSP comes in as the best losers like last time though. Who knows, PSP wins West Coast with him as one of the candidates and then no need NCMP liao.

I beg to differ. Leong regurgitated and trusted that whatever information from the complainant was true and comprehensive, he did not concoct the information out of the air.
At best, he is guilty of not checking the information he received and did not probe further. That was an honest mistake, nothing malicious nor he had intended to deceive.
Leong is human and everyone makes mistakes, and it was an honest one.
He do not need to resign at all.

I know many may be tired or bored of reading this but an MP claimed PER CAPITA GRANT from the $100B Solidarity/Resilience COVID BUDGET was more like $23.5K but what did many deserving and needy sg-nation builders only received?$600!
That is only 2.5 pct of $23.5K?
Who and what criteria decided that paltry short-changed sum of $600?
Is it fair to bona fide sgs?
This is just an example among multitudesof others.

Correct bro, which is exactly what I said above about him trusting them and not having access to the info provided by relevant ministry. Which is also why I say lesson learnt and be a lot more careful next time. Don’t for no reason give PAP to shoot him with more ammunition to highlight that he repeatedly made the same mistake over and over again.
Whatever it is, he felt that resigning was the right thing to do. I respect his decision. All he has to do is to be more careful from now on, check everything cover backside then whack the monkeys.

I think West Coast residents will vote PSP in and LMW will no longer be an NMP but an elected MP. The continued use of POFMA will backfire on the ruling party.

maybe it is just me, but I do notice that Millisters in the lightning club can make any number of honest mistakes they want, most with no repercussions.
However, when it comes to the oppos and the POFMA office, there is no such thing as a misunderstanding or honest mistake.
Anything that does not fit the official narrative is “fake news” and the office will be quick and dirty to hit them with POFMA.
If I were Leong, maybe next time, I wouldn’t use social media, ask everything in Parliament and let the Millisters answer, at least got some protection.
One thing I see good coming out of this fiasco, is that Leong will most probably gets elected if he stands in an SMC. I think most Sinkies are sick and tired of WP’s got say like no say wayang in the club house. We all want to MPs that are more vocal and dare ti ask hard questions.

From the unfair and irrational distribution of the $100B Solidarity/Resilience BUDGETS where needy and deserving sgs got only $600,we ,as NATION AND SGS,MUST ASK “Do we help the needy in times of need or do we neglect them or do otherwise”?

I noticed that oppos in Sinkieland like to pressure themselves into behaving like the lightning members and try to hold themselves to the lightning’s standards.
