Resignation of Leong Mun Wai

It must have surprised and sadden many people that Mr Leong Mun Wai (LMW) has announced his decision to step down as PSP's secretary general for posting inaccurate information online and hence was 'pofmaed' by Masagos Zulkifli.
I want to begin my commentary by stating that nobody is perfect and infallible, absolutely nobody including every single one of the pap ministars, past and present.
LMW is a first term MP. Politics is a tough, thankless and even a cruel and ruthless endeavour but still many people venture into it for their genuine love and concern for their country and fellow countrymen and although I do not know LMW personally, I know that he is a decent, brainy and courageous man.
He has contributed much to quality parliamentary debates by raising useful and important questions such as the transfer of the management of our Sports Hub back to the government, cost of living issues, the Ridout bungalows issues and many, many more.
His performances could have very easily beaten the so many quieter pap mps anyday hands down. LMW certainly didn't disappoint the many, many people who believe in the oppositions and in him.
His mistake isn't fatal. In the course of meeting residents and members of the public and there are hundreds and even thousands of them, all sorts of people are out there.
The old, the not so old, the well to do, the poor, the desperadoes, people who suffer from dementia and not forgetting people who have hidden agendas and may deliberately feed you with wrong information etc hoping to get you into trouble etc.
If it is possible, I hope that LMW can and is willing to reconsider his decision but in any case, I want to say a big thank you Sir to him.
Our country is fortunate to have a parliamentarian like him who possesses both calibre and courage. Both are rare and precious attributes indeed.

LMW is not exactly the most eloquent but he speaks from the heart.
Too many MPs and Govt leaders speak from
their “heads” only.
Leaders of people must “HAVE A HEART”.
Else better go to private sector if you just want to be mercenary.
Many former PMETs are impoverished over the last 2 decades.
Most of them now senior or even elderly.
Not a few of our govt policies have contributed largely to this.
HAPPY AGEING is but just another “sounds good” slogan more than anything else in truth.
For how long are we going to continue conning our own people?

All the opposition tone down after pofma on budget, after Leong and PSP change tone. Seriously, do anyone think that this year budget bring hope to Singaporeans? High GST, high cost of living,high interest rate foreigners coming in to snatch jobs, job security, poor people and long term poverty, last year poor GDP figure, low birth rate, ageing population and so on. So many problems but there are no long term solution in the budget. The government avoid solving all the long term problem, the elephant in the room.
It is a hopeless budget. Giving little money to Singaporeans, small percentage out of hundred billions budget cannot solve problem permanently. Foreign employers who employed foreigners does not care Singaporeans are trained or skilled. Do anyone believe training with $4000 will give you a raise or make you have good employment? Business face with high cost, high interest and government asking them to let employee train,not working, mean employers had to choose to sack their workers or pay more to employ more workers. I think under money pressure business will sack Singapore workers and employ more foreigners. Low birth rate and ageing population means Singapore will finish soon, taken over by foreigners and there are no solution from the government in this budget. Instead government increase GST making life difficult for Singaporean who has ageing parent to take care, high interest to pay loan like housing and high inflation,increasing their burden. The budget is losing the reality Singapore and Singaporeans face. Mps has no idea how busy a worker is working everyday, without time for off to take care of parents, give birth and take care of children and ask them to take time to train when many of these courses did nothing significant to many people career and advancement.

Response: I thought he resigns from politics, then that really a surprise.
This is called proactive self-discipline, one step back two steps forward (btw, this is a skillsfuture course).
Actually without the opposition members especially Mr Leong in the parliament, the debates are really boring, so please don’t quit. Ganbette!
