Singapore not cutting diplomatic ties with Israel

Although I have criticised Vivian Balakrishnan (VB) in the past for his poor handling of the Youth Olympic Games, the trace together issues and his sharp retort to Dr Lily Neo's appeal for more help for poor Singaporeans with where do you want to have your meals, restaurants, foodcourts or hawker centres... etc, this time, I want to applaud VB for his speech in Parliament about not cutting diplomatic ties with Israel.
Let me explain.
VB spoke about numerous issues and among them, I consider his speech on and I quote 'Singapore condemned the attack, ie, the Hamas incursion into Israel and the hostage taking and recognises Israel's right to self defence, similar to Singapore would invoke the same right should the country have been attacked'. (Please read this paragraph, especially the last 3 lines again).
We live in dangerous times and in a dangerous world and serious bad things can happen very unexpectedly and because I recognise and understand that and so on balance, since nothing is perfect, I therefore support VB on his yesterday's parliamentary speech.
Among others popular softies Santa Claus policies, darling darling mummy sayang you policies etc, politics is serious business. It is about our people's livelihood, our country's safety and our future together etc.
Political leadership must be brave, be right and not merely politically correct to please suckerporeans and the masses only.

This is a perfect example of selective contexting to advance an argument to justify own needs and wants. Conveniently quoting the Oct 7 attacks and ignoring the long chain of events that led to the action by Hamas.
The way I see it, the Zionist Israeli regime has no freaking right of self-defense to speak of. The only right they have to be deleted and removed from the middle-east.
Per the ICJ, Israel is an occupying force (invader) and has no right to any self-defense to claim. Hamas was legally retaliating against an Israeli invasion, even with force is perfectly legal.
Like it or not, Hamas is the democratically-elected government of Gaza. They have to protect Gaza from an invasion from Israel and that is exactly what they did, retaliate against an invasion.
On the contrary, what Israel is doing to Gaza is a war crime.
BTW, just curious, why the lightning did not defend the genocidal Israel at the ICJ hearing if they so believe that Israel acted in self-defense?
China is dead set against what Israel did and US is defending Israel, I guess US dicky is more shiok and longer, prompting the “how many meals” to slant the narrative so can suck suck?
Sinkies may be kiasi and kiasu and kia lightning but certainly not hopelessly stupid. If Simon goes into the next GE advancing the above belief, he would probably lose his deposit, better don’t even context, IMHO.
Of all of Simon’s articles that I have read, I would classify this as the most rubbish of all rubbish and would have deleted it, but then it is TRE’s stance that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. So I have to respect his right to say it even though I absolutely and strongly do not agree with him.

I am having nausea because of the writer. What is diplomatic relations with a murderer called? Dress it up as defence to justify the 5 months of genocide? To me,both Hamas and Israeli Govt are errant.
But by trying to get at Hamas,IDF did injustice to innocent Palestinians.

Its clear that Simon is on Israel side and I wonder and would speculate that if he is given a chance to go fight fort Israel in Gaza, the ISD would not no problem with that.
Considering the lightning stance on the issue, I also wonder if the ISD will take action if another Simon says he would like to join Hamas to fight against the genocidal Israel.
My simple logic. Because US says Hamas is a terrorist, so since everyone in Gaza is technically Hamas, so ISD has to act. Israel the US no say terrorist, so it is alright for Simon to join Israel to fight against those in Gaza.

What is so evil about 7 Oct compared to 70 years of occupation, massacre, ethnic cleansing, land grabs, and putting millions of Palestinians in an open air prison, controlling their every activity, food, medicine, water, electricity, what can or can go into their land, bullying, torture, discrimination and condemned to live in poverty and oppression… with all rights and human rights being deprived?
Why no one is condemning these brutal and cruel acts for more than 70 years and pretend that they did not happen, and a few hundred people killed on 7 Oct, many by Israeli own fire, and use it as an excuse, a big horror, to conduct genocide openly, in contempt of the UN and the rest of the world. What hypocrisy is this?
How many Palestinians have been killed, how many more are dying by bombing, gunfire, starvation, thirst, lack of medicine, diseases….how many children, wounded but with no parents to care for them. People that don’t condemn such atrocities are just as evil as the perpetrators.
And the biggest murderer of the Palestinians, by sending bombs, weapons and ammunition to the Israelis hatchet men, protecting the Israelis murderers from attacked, are still walking around Scot free, as if they are so innocent, and still vetoing any ceasefire calls in the UN? I think many Singaporeans don’t even know that the PAP’s continued diplomatic relations with a Zionist govt. which is killing freely in Gaza is akin to supporting Germany under Hitler. Israel has “out-crazied everyone” in its response to the horrific attack of October 7. Currently leveling Gaza with indiscriminate bombing and is using starvation as a weapon. The collective punishment of a civilian population has nothing to do with “defense”. Hamas is certainly a threat but because of the fact that they don’t have a single tank, aircraft, powerful artillery or any comparable weaponry, threats to Israel are limited as well. This is also no reason to match evil actions with a radical adversary, even those resisting decades of illegal occupation and oppression.
Beyond this, there is a glaring omission in the comparisons. In many (but not all) other cases, the United States and Europe were either passive or explicitly opposed to the atrocities being committed whereas, in this case, Israel has their full support and backing. That should be a problem for anyone who supports human rights and international law. Their behavior already dragged the US down with it if unconditional support for the acts of retribution continues unabated.
VB as a FM should be ‘kick out’ for using such lame rhetoric.

The mentality of this group of people with daft opinion is what I woould call Slavery Mentality.
Allow me to quote an example.
Say if a woman is kidnapped as a sex slave, used and abused on a daily basis. One fine day if the abuse stops, she would feel that something is missing and she won’t be able to get used to it. It is not so much about the orgasm from the sex, but it has become a habit.
As a sex slave, she also depended on her kidnaper to survive (food), so she has to obey and trust the kidnapper, there is no other option. Deep down inside, she long and crave for the sexual abuse and may even miss it.

The peasants on an island near the equator have been lorded over and having bull of a shit force-fed to them for over 1/2 a decade, some if not all, will have the abovestated mentality and be trusting towards the lords.
