Singapore football’s 2-2 draw with China

It made my day to read about our Singapore national football team holding the China team to a 2-2 draw at the National Stadium yesterday.
What is even more remarkable is that they came back from 2-0 down at half time to hold China to a draw.
China, although unlike Japan or South Korea isn't an Asian football powerhouse, still there are plenty to shout about the result.
It was a good result, a satisfaction and a good start and I wish our boys and everyone involved my best wishes.
They have shown plenty of grit, determination and heart and for those who have for so long continue to believe in our own talents, stood by them and not imported talents. Shanti Pereira is another one such shining 100% Singaporean star.
I say to them to continue having faith in our own people and although the odds are stacked against us very high because of our small population base and our urban lifestyle, still, let's us continue to believe and cheer them and never give up.
Heartiest congratulations once more.

If you ask me,it’s nothing to shout about.
To me,Sg must beat the likes of Japan or S Korea to be on its way to Goh’s Dream Team for Olympics.
It’s been a long time since The Sg Miracle ,a miracle attained by the sheer grit and honest hard and highly PRODUCTIVE Labour of ordinary sgs.
That is the kind of national achievement we should be proud of.
Thec Kallang Roar(LIONS’ ROAR) is glaringly missing ; so too the SG KAMPONG SPIRIT.

First of all i did not thumb u down.
Second, most people although not all if never 3 meals properly at appropriate timing will 软手软脚. Ask any chinese.
Thirdly, i heard only. China soccer team’s food too dot kong 非常补. Last time 吃鳖 , currently 吃海参 .
Obviously curry or chilli or nasi lemak seems to work better.

The “fit” players complained other players are not fit.
Acknowledging that the Singapore-based players are not in ideal physical condition as they are still in pre-season, Hariss believes that they can only get better from here on.
He said: “Fitness is definitely important because of the way he wants us to play but having said that, most players are in the off-season and pre-season. We can also make better use of the ball and we can be more calm and composed. When we got to the final third, we didn’t use the ball well enough so these are aspects we can improve on.
“It is a good start that we can build on. We need to keep improving and there is a lot more we can show.”
Former Lion and current Geylang International head coach Noor Ali warned that the team’s high-pressing performances in the two games should serve as “wake-up calls” to certain players, as well as motivate those who want to be a part of the squad.
“If you want to be part of the team, you have to wake up and buck up and then get fitter, stronger and faster because Ogura is all about run, run and run,” he said.

Just don’t understand why football is so fascinating!
Nothing is produced, couldn’t quench your thirst, couldn’t fill your stomach, couldn’t cure sickness, always got physical among players, quarrel, antagonistic fans, disputes and sometimes deadly stampedes.
It is also not cheap, huge amounts of resources are needed to train, to build up infrastructure needed for the matches etc….

My dear, dear friend of TRE, me was actually wanted to say “ Foodball “is a better choice, somehow it became “football “ when edited by the editing authorities.
Me think your perspective is not very accurate on the ground. Charitable organisations related to football help, but the magnitude of help showering down to people at the receiving end does not seem to have changed things around.
On the contrary, football contributes to unequal distribution of wealth. A very wealthy football player could amass billions whereas millions of poor people couldn’t afford the ticket to gain entry to the stadium to watch the player kicks the ball around.
In a nutshell, Foodball is much better than football.

I saw a video stating that a few singapore players are not full time players, one is a full time chicken rice hawker, another one is a real estate agent, really? They played becoz of interest.
If it’s true, then result 4:1 is considered not bad. Result 2:2 is fantastic.
