The news that Members of Parliament (MPs) receive what appears to be special and cheaper car parking rates have caused an uproar online. The revelation on 26 June follows the news weeks earlier of the Ministry of Education decreeing that teachers would also have to pay for parking, at market rates, in school premises, ending... 

I refer to the ‘Insight’ article “Helping low-wage workers: What more can be done? ” (Sunday Times (2 full pages), Jun 24). It states that “Cleaner Sucila Rajoo, whose basic monthly salary was $600 when she started work 18 years ago, now earns $1,300, plus an incentive of $100 a month for good attendance and performance.... 

Come August, teachers will have to pay for parking at school premises.  Uncovered and covered lots will cost $720 and $960 a year respectively.
