The kiasu, kiasi and kia chenghu mentality of Singaporeans is most pronounced in the political landscape for many decades. Opposition parties tended to play it safe, avoid controversies for fear of having a date with Sue. Many of the pioneering generations of politicians have learnt it the hard way and paid for it dearly, bankrupted... 

Many people have written about the pains of being Singaporeans and being displaced by foreigners with doubtful qualifications and backgrounds and ended up jobless or underemployed. The consequences of this self made disaster would be felt many years down the road and it would be too late to do anything if nothing is done now.... 

In modern day Singapore, there are still people who cannot afford to pay their utilities bill, which results in the termination of their water/electricity supply by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and SP Services.
