从政治传播看新加坡大选

新加坡大选已经过一星期,执政党人民行动党大胜出乎许多政治评论员的意料之外,尤其观察许多选民出席反对党群眾大会,感受到反对党选前的声势庞大,因而选举成绩让人意外,选举结果与选前氛围反差甚大。 作为大马边城新山的公民,笔者有幸到新加坡感染新加坡大选氛围,本身也有一些新加坡土生土长的朋友,以及选择成为新移民的马来西亚中学同学(他们多就读新加坡大学,之后在新就业定居,成为公民)。 基本上,有新加坡本土的朋友在面书上明确表达不会再投票给执政党,理由是希望下一代生长在一个重视人文更甚于GDP的国家;有者指出人民都是纳税...

GE 2015: Could there have been any other result?

I wrote in this blog a couple of weeks prior to the last GE that come day-after-polling, the PAP will declare victory and, thereafter, it will be one-party-rule-as-usual. I also pointed out, which I have done countless of times before, that the electoral process in Singapore facilitates one and only one outcome: PAP victory....

I used to NOT understand why when contributors wrote in to raise an issue that was affecting them badly, there were some commentators who responded by asking who the contributors voted for, and if they voted for PAP, they deserved what they got. I thought that their line of questioning was irrelevant to the issue that was raised. However,...
