Managing editor Han Fook Kwang seems to imply in his commentary ("When wages fail to grow along with economy"; last Sunday) that a large part of Singapore's population are in difficult and unhappy times. I just want to rebut this absolutely ridiculous claim from Indonesia. Not politically, or by using ad homs.  But in indisputable technical terms. How much air is there above Singapore or even Indonesia for that matter?  The most accurate way to define this is by saying that this is the air volume above the respective countries.... 

Sometimes, you may read a few Ministers spout some things in the press such as "$1000 monthly salary can buy BTO Flat" or "Foreigners Help to Improve Real Wages of Singaporeans" This is the reason.
