58.4% rise in net profit for SMRT in 3Q

SMRT posted a 58.4% rise in net profit for the fiscal third quarter last week (28 Jan). The sharp rise in net profit was said to have been helped by higher rental income and a sharp reduction in losses from its bus operations. It earned $22.5 million in the three months ended December, up from $14.2 million in the same period...

PM’s press sec to Roy: Pay up the $29K or else

ST reported yesterday (6 Feb) that blogger Roy Ngerng has been given until noon next Monday (9 Feb) to pay costs to PM Lee ('Blogger Roy Ngerng given until Monday to pay costs for defamation suit'). On 12 January 2015, the court ruled that Roy has to pay $29,000 to the PM’s lawyer, Drew and Napier, for costs and filing fees...
