The government should be applauded

I think the govt should be applauded for being able to find accommodation for 10,000 foreigners in such a short time.

This outbreak of the virus is indeed a test for the 4G leaders, and so far, they are doing a good job, helped by our healthcare professionals leading the battle.

I only wish they would open their minds more when it comes to political diversity, of views, freedom of speech and media, and such.

For now, if an election is called, I dare say the opposition will be obliterated. U can’t win PAP votes based on how they are handling this outbreak.

And yes, if you choose to travel and get infected, you’ll have to take responsibility for yourself.

So please travel only if absolutely necessary.

The one & only one worth commending is Lawrence Wong. When the going gets touch, the tough one stands out. I see & think that he has matured a lot. Way better & above the rest of “Sia Suay”. A different PM quality if given a chance to prove more.

MYOPIA AND TUNNEL VISION – the economy is in deep malaise long after the passing of coronavirus.

PAPpypolitics’s PAPpynomics striving for population recycling economics is deeply flawed and unsustainable.

Where do we go from here? The Committee for Future Economy is clueless, so is 4G.

The coronavirus fight is only at its beginning – the real test is still to come. If they hold election now and the contagion infection spread like wildfire, we are gone.

Ya! Ya! Clap for the pap. Clap for the 4G and vote for them again. Give them another 70…. no 80% of the votes and in another 5 years, see how many more singaporeans will lose their jobs to more Msians.

300,000 Msians working in sg now. How many are being paid a mere S$1,000 which singaporeans wouldn’t have been able to survive on?

So, the 4G leaders are doing a good job handling this outbreak, huh? So, continue to judge them based on this coronavirus scare only, ya? Continue to be short-sighted. Continue to have short memory. Continue to forget about how they’ve caused singaporeans to struggle with our lives in the past 4 years. Well ok, wait. Just wait till the water in the pot gets hotter and see how many dumb frogs will be cooked to death.

“I think the govt should be applauded for being able to find accommodation for 10,000 foreigners in such a short time.”

I think, on the other hand, that to credit the govt for making arrangements to accommodate so many foreigners in such short time is to ignore the efforts by the various employers and associations who took it upon themselves to allow time-off during the day for employees to go back to pack and come back.

The various associations like the Contractors Association also took efforts to arrange budget hotels etc.

I know of aircon and engineering companies who arrange for short term stays for their employees without government knowledge and blessings. They are not even trying to apply for the govt $50 grants which they were not even aware of at the time of decision.

Granted that they did well and fast; but are they avoidable cases if social distancing were implemented earlier (as in HK) ?

Capable Opposition like Lim Tean would have decisively terminates and stop the virus in Singapore, allowing its people to roam freely in a matter of short time period and Malaysia would not have the need to lock-down its gate for Singapore.

Its only the tip of the iceberg, fresh meat, fresh vegetables, daily essential, all those made in Malaysia, would become shortage and price would definitively escalate. Even after this careless handling of the pandemic, tax would hikes and hikes and GST would soars as the government would attempts to recover from the citizens.

All these, because of the careless, indecisive, unwilling even to call for dorscon RED, poor handling of the pandemic.

I feel it is perfectly alright to credit the government when they are doing well.

Personally, I am of the view that the 4G leaders are handling the virus situation quite well. So far, no fatalities..it is an achievement although there is no guarantee this will continue.

What I think the government should do is to bring forward ALL the “goodies” that were announced during budget 2020 eg the one time payment of $100/$200/$300. Up till now we don’t know when we will get the money.

For those receiving the enhanced Silver Support payout, instead of Dec 20, why not hand out, say, in Jun.

They f?uck it up, nothing to credit. Zero death has nothing to do with the government, under intensive care, supply of oxygen and life support system, all paid heavily for by the tax payers. You want thanks, you thanks to Singaporeans.

Escalating infection rates and length of time of the pandemic decide the performance of the government in arresting the outbreaks. Right now is f?ucking bad and poor.

Malaysia lock down against Singapore is a clear indication of distrust, lost of credit against the government. With the doubling rates, you don’t have the slightest excuse to negotiate with Malaysia.

    @ Steven

I AM UNCERTAIN if your claim of 4G handling of this coronavirus is “quite well.” There is no vaccine cure, so fatalities or otherwise is a function of infected immunity response to life oxygen support.

Steven: I feel it is perfectly alright to credit the government when they are doing well.

Personally, I am of the view that the 4G leaders are handling the virus situation quite well. So far, no fatalities..it is an achievement

When infection rate escalates exponentially and the system is overwhelming, life support will be taken away from “long stayers”. So @ Becoming a mess could be correct.

When did PAPpypolitics became aware of the largest cluster incubating at Jurong Safra? Did they cleverly delayed announcement and forecast of forward escalation of infections whilst concealing this knowledge/awareness when WHO is praising them? The public mind will read this as cynical PR subterfuge of clever handling to pretending it is “quite well handled” all along.

There is an election agenda lurking in the background while the fire of infection looming is raging.

    @ Steven

WHETHER IT IS WELL HANDLED OR NOT can only be looked at AFTER THE FACT and passing of this coronavirus pandemic – BOTH AT THE MICRO-HANDING of healthcare function and THE MACRO-ECONOMIC POLICY AGENDA.

Right now, it is a lot of PR of incomplete information – much of them confusing. The obvious inexplicable is the TRUTHFUL FALSITY OF SUFFICIENT INADEQUATE FACE MASK and PREMATURE CATCALL of its supposed irrelevance of protection for Singapore (China, HK, Macau, South Korea all has peaked and finding the bottom of relief of possible end of their pandemic suffering infection) whilst infection is runawway now in Singapore. WHO is now saying coronavirus is airborne aerosol spread (hence face mask is protective of limited help).

IF it is indeed airborne, THE ELECTION CALL NOW is very stupid and dangerous misadventure of cruel selfish political calculus. Italy is lock down, UK maybe soon and Australia just did that – non-resident arriving from abroad will be denied entry.

I fell that this matter is seriously mishandled – looking from how the virus has affected even remote mining operations around the world where social distance is natural and unlimited of space freeing of infection risks in far remote from civilisation geography.

Read these weblinks on mining entities announcement to thee ASX on corona virus update .

MY MESSAGE TO YOU IS THIS – SINCE VIRUS PANDEMIC ARE VERY DANGEROUS TO REMOTE ISOLATED EVEN NEARLY UNINHABITED CIVILISATION AND BUSINESS OPERATION, how can Singapore forward plan of densely-congested metropolis of up to 10 million or more population survive the next epidemic infection?

Once the epidemic spread, the infection will come in public transport, housing, shopping panic, starvation, mass death and broken economic supply of critical labor in all economic structure WITH UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES of collapse and starvation for most inhabitants.

IS PAPpypolitics/PAPpynomics going to restructure its macroeconomic assumptions and agenda KNOWING THAT A LARGE HIGH DENSITY POPULATION BUILT OUT OF FOREIGN INFLUX IS UNSUSTAINABLE AND DEEPLY FLAWED?

Now this is the real test of this coronavirus pandemic is well handled by 4G or not?

@PAP has done a good job:

I am also amazed that there are people who are pro-PAP 100%. This too will cloud your mind.

While there are things the PAP government deserve credit for, there are also things that need to be improved.

The obvious is the cost of living. As I illustrated elsewhere, I was previously able to pay off my HDB mortgage in 5 years; the young couple of today will need about 25 years to do so.

What I find laughable is that quite often there are rebates or subsidies for various schemes for buying HDB flats. If the flats are priced moderately, there is no need to offer these various schemes.

And 2nd, there are many old people still cleaning tables just to make ends meet.

So, yes, we can be grateful for many things that have been achieved by the PAP government but I would advocate that there should be between 25 to 30 opposition MPs to provide the check and balance in parliament.
