Two police officers infected and 3rd death by Covid-19

Mr Zheng Yalie

Two police officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPH) have tested positive for the Covid-19, according to official figures released by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The 2 officers are among the untraced cases announced by MOH on Friday (27 Mar), namely case 709 and 731, suggesting that another unknown cluster may have formed at a local Police Division.

Neither MOH nor SPF have released any further information on which division they were attached to or the duties they were involved in, except that they are both male aged 26 and 32.

It is currently not known if any preventive measures, like wearing of mask (for frontline officers) or quarantine of fellow colleagues have been implemented at the division they are attached to.

3rd Death

Meanwhile, the island city recorded its 3rd death by the Covid-19 on Sunday (29 Mar). The patient is registered as case 109, a local community-spread case unlinked to any known cluster.

The deceased is Mr Zheng Yalie, a 70 year-old male who was a dishwasher in a local Japanese Restaurant.

He was then admitted to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on 29 February, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 2 March and announced as an confirmed case on 3 March.

He had been cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU) since then. He developed serious complications and eventually succumbed to the infection after 27 days in the ICU.

802 Confirmed Infections

As of 28th March @ 1200 hours, Singapore has a total of 802 confirmed infections, of which 198 have been discharged and 19 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

With the rapid increase in daily local community-spread infections (total 67 untraced cases), the health authorities are still not recommending the wearing of masks for prevention due to the serious shortages and high cost of masks.

Singapore has 67 untraced cases as of 28th March

On the other hand in China, with no new local community infections to date, its health authorities are still “strongly advising” its residents to wear a mask whenever in public places. Social distancing measures are still being implemented with all public entertainment and food outlets remaining closed. Only outlets that are offering only takeaways are allowed to operate.

Untraced: Indicates that the case has no known chain of transmission back to cases from highly affected areas or to an MOH-identified cluster.

I may not be in the authority to advise, I suggest those taking public transport to wear face mask. Since it is still available at a reasonable price it is better to stock up now.

It is better to play it save. There are a lot of un-traceable infections out there. And in case somebody under quarantine decided to take a MRT for bak-ku-tek or wanted to go to Batam.

I know Minister Khaw recommended not to talk in public transport to prevent saliva flying around. I think it is better to recommend commuters not to exhale.

    Good luck.

  • No Mask Get Beaten Up:

There was a video showing policemen and soldiers manhandle and beat up people who do not wear mask in public irrespective of whether you are male or female, old or young.

That’s how serious they are. But over here PAP leaders say no need to wear mask unless you get the virus. If I get the virus , I will search for the leaders and spread the virus to them . WTF

  • With 67 unlinked cases, it can technically be said that there is a possibility that there exists 67 clusters which have yet to be discovered.

Taking into consideration the non-stop SMRT and buses plying the streets of Sinkapore end-to-end daily, imagine the number of infected case these clusters could produce.

As for the 2 policeman, what if they were frontline staff manning charge room or lockup or doing foot patrol or DRC or FRC? What if they were involved in assisting MOH do contact tracing? Just picture the number of public they come in contact with on a daily basis!

I heard one is a nurse from Sengkang, so picture again the number of patients she has had contact with and touch touch here touch touch there one. Some more she was working before she was finally confirmed with the Covid-19 wor, same as the teacher at PCF Sparkletots lor. Scarry man!

Sinkapore could be starring at a massive local community outbreak within a month or so, unless the local virus is a more tame and timid mutated version of the ones found in China, particularly Wuhan.

I pray that I am wrong, really.

The authority did not explain what is “unlinked” case.

For the benefit of those who did not know what is “unlinked” case, let me explain; “it means the authority has no clue where or when the infection took place”.

It could be from any where! No worry, just take the authority advice, keep 1 metre away from anyone around you.

Nice, an idiot-proof way for putting it. lol

Anyway, I got a strong feeling Sinkapore sure got big outbreak within weeks due to the half-baked and retarded measures being taken. I would strongly advise all to stay home at all times whenever possible and if die die have to go out, wear a mask, touch nothing and don’t talking to strangers. lol

  • Harder Truths:

The CoVID-19 is airborne – everybody should be aware of this. Contact-tracing only works if the disease is transmitted by social contact. Untraced and suddenly popping up all over the place is a sign of airborne transmission. MRT, shopping centres, offices where there is recirculating airflow – all are virus traps.

Thanks a lot pappies – your incompetency knows no limits or common sense.

It is highly suspicious that some of those recent returnees from aboard were actually already taken ill by the virus before they returned and they knew it!

They had chosen to return because of the treatment available in their motherland which is of high quality and moreover, it’s free! Another reason could be the discrimination they experienced while abroad.

It is just possible that before boarding the plane, medicine was consumed to suppress the fever, if any. So that they will appear to be healthy and could proceed without being stopped. Throughout the whole course of their journey home, they mixed around freely, did not put on any protective gears to prevent spreading the virus to others.

If this scenario really has taken place, then these are the most selfish people on earth. Only god knows how many people they had infected on their way home!

  • idiot open leg policies:

as long as our country’s “legs are open” to all , including hebei , the numbers will continue to rise.
plus with all the bail out n assistance packages from our gov, all the opportinists are heading home .
alot of unscrupulous individuals are going to ace the system and become richer at our expense.
hope they all be brought to justice if caught.
many corrupt employers too will take advantage of their workers.
    greed knows no bounds..

//If this scenario really has taken place, then these are the most selfish people on earth. Only god knows how many people they had infected on their way home!//

aiyoh. it’s self preservation in times of crisis ? if not-being-selfish in this kind of situation means your own suffering or perhaps even death, which individual would vote for it (potentially for their own demise) ? moreover, being stuck in another country could mean very very high high medical costs if not covered by insurance (no insurance) ????

if daft sinkies returnees, still ok lar ? the uptmost concern is returnees who are not sinkies – FTs or whatnots – who are already infected which the white idiots allow in inadvertently because of their ho-sim open-leg policy ?

by right in this critical time, FTs should go back to their home country and be taken care by their own health care system ??? a lot of countries have implemented lockdowns not allowing even tourists into their countries and whatever visas / permits issued are cancelled ??
