Why I Voted Against PAP at Ang Mo Kio GRC

I read the article “I trusted PAP for far too long” and “I am Sengkang voter“, I totally agree with their observations. I said the same thing about two decades ago to all my friends and relatives, few people agreed with me and even said I am hardcore opposition.

Today, I am proven right, those who did not agree with me, many of them are without jobs, driving PHV or self employed. They seem to start to see the true colours of PAP. But of course, many are so conditioned and fearful of change. And to my dismay, many still say they will void the votes. This is to the extent the fear of Singaporean voters that they are angry or unhappy with PAP but will still fear of voting against them.

I watched RP presentation on National TV, yes they were not good but I still voted for them. Charles Yeo although did not speak well, he tried his best. People were laughing at home and pouring sarcasm, the issue here is will how many of us will stand? This man is a lawyer, he has bright future but he is willing to stand, why would we want to look down on him and not look at ourselves? Many people told me they disliked PAP but still voted PAP because RP cannot make it. Some even void their votes. Singaporean is weak mentally and fearful, they always find reason for things. If PAP is not serving us well, even a monkey come for election, we should vote the monkey isn’t it? With such votes going to PAP, they are encouraged to push us very hard with their lousy policies. And we will be on the receiving end for next four years.

The plan for 6.9M or 10M is certainly on, as you know these days, NDPs are attended by mainly by foreigners; PRs and new citizens. And this year, to promote new migrant, they have ex-Indonesian singing NDP song. Isn’t this obvious that they are enticing and promoting to foreigners who are imported into this tiny island to convert to new Singaporeans? Things are not going to change, we are going to see more and more foreigners imported and converted, we will see abundance of locals being replaced at their jobs.

For more than two decades, I told so many the same thing but most people just bear with the pain. Today, the anger has resulted another loss of GRC but remember, the numbers are still too small to stop those lousy polices being launched against citizens. Remember PAP will not change, they will always do what they want to do.

For next four years, life will be tougher and will see more and more migrants becoming new locals. If you do not reflect from now till then and stand up, just be prepared to suffer the consequence.

    @ Oliver Foo

YOUR RELATIVES and friends who defined you as hardcore opposition deserve their just desserts.

Now, it is still subsistence sustenance via PHV driving or self-employed (maybe in the GIG economy of food delivery), that party could soon be too crowded too as more foreigners will be imported and “localised” foreigners also got thrown onto the industrial waste heaps of unemployed/unemployable as newcomers will be cheaper and faster, not better JUST TO KEEP LEE-jiapore sinking economy a BIT SLOWER IN THE RATE OF ITS SINKING inevitable.

De-globalisation makes sure this will happen because external trade (which we much depend on for a living), transportation, retail and tourism are heading for the economic graveyards.

If they are standing in Q line in Bugis Street or Geylang lorongs after that – they might be surprised that there are more “suppliers of services” than loitering and gawking potential customers -EVEN ON CHEAP AUCTION SALES pitches.

This time the PMETs group are responsible for the 8% swing against PAP.
They are badly affected by the economy ,poor manpower policy and Pandemic.
Many are unemployed or underemployed…and cash poor.
Will get worse down the road…more jobs loss coming.

It will all to *SAVE JOBS* for more FTs the PAP has committed to DUMP HERE via DAFT FTAs?

The only way to stop this is to let OPPO MPs do the job for you.
I bet my last two cents NOT EVEN NTUC MINISTER will do that for you?

MOM and its officers are not doing their job right. How can they protect the businesses leaving the poor workers who have no means of getting lawyers to challenge their employers and seeking MOM helps didn’t end up well for the workers either.
I have heard of many unfair termination and the MOM officers just take it lightly that employees are always at fault without proper investigation. They are always on the employers side, and trying to close cases quickly to meet their KPIs. They conduct investigation by just interviewing the employers without even engaging the employees, what the employers words count not the poor workers.
Josephine Teo should be sacked for not managing her team properly. She was lucky to switch to a weaker GRC, people are hoping she is out.MOM has hurt so many workers already.

Well done Oliver…you are the man. You stood for what you believe on fair and reasonable ground. I as a Singaporean am proud of you. We need more Singaporeans like you so that our younger generation will get a chance to succeed in our land Singapore. The PAP has held on to power for too long. Many Singaporeans are blind to their failings. Analyze our situation whilst living in Singapore. There are the connected, beholdened and beneficiaries who will swear blind in support of the PAP. Yes sure they will. Then you have the unconnected, us plebians. No jobs, disadvantaged even in school, no scholarship even if you score 5 or 6 As in your A levels exams. We are treated as a nobody in the country in which we are born. What do we do? Yes, we need an alternative that will care for us, come what may…yes the opposition, any opposition, so long as opposition.

I agree with the writer, and those who void their vote would be better off disqualify ownselves for voting.

They are not fear, but ignorantly retard. Its like someone who is victim of a family violence refuse to stand against the abuser in face of justice.

And yes, the ruling party of the day will do what they want to do. And the only hope is to continue our sarcasm on those vote voiders, they are worse than those who feel strongly to have papa in power.

Once i saw a DC adaptor in the collection bin at void deck. Condition looks okay , so i believe its okay , just pick it up and a neighbour ( 八婆 auntie ) residing above storey came and saw. She ask me u not working ? I explained item seem okay so i intent to bring back and test it. ( The adaptor no issue can work )

Next day i can hear she gossiping with her neighbours about me. All negative sayings about me. E.g. pick rubbish ( hokkien ) , stingy , no moneyto buy one , …. And they laugh very loud , probably on purpose so i can hear.

Funny , why negative comments ? Why not positive comments like Mr XXX very environment friendly doing recycling, creating less waste and rubbish , protecting earth for our children, less carbon emissions, …

KNN, will never happen. 85% sure sarcastic remarks.

  • For many years, many Singapore:

@Bro Bo Chee – human nature

I agree with you Singaporeans mostly jealous and selfish, they always talk bad or down if we behave differently from them.

It is a kind of defence. This is why they voted PAP although they dont really like them, they feel the association with power is good. While voting oppositions are all losers and complaint kings.

    Their stupidity cannot be underestimated.

  • stop screwing us:

Those who voted for alternative parties are the smart ones. We have been screwed by the PAP. Singapore males have been screwed severely by national service (conscription) implemented by Goh Keng Swee and PAP. Voting for PAP is saying yes to continue being screwed by them, which is senseless.

These old cunts rely on gossip to pass their days. They’re pathetic, have no life.

NS would be good for women. Learn to clean toilets, clear rubbish, do area cleaning. Women nowadays shun these things. Becoming too lazy as they can shove to the maid.

  • Corruption Perception Index:

Corruption level of a country is a perception.
    Real corruption is not known.

A cat that catches no or little mice does not mean there is not mice.

How many spy for China is also unknown .
What is known is what is known.
What is not known is not known.
Like corruption, how can yew know what you DON’T KNOW ?
Many ,however, are pathetic, stupid or rather ignore.

There is a reason why Corruption index is called Corruption PERCEPTION index.

I hope I have somehow educated some Singaporeans, provided they can digest what I am saying.

Nay, its not jealousy nor selfishness. I m not rich.

This auntie 60+ to 70+ a chinese. And either a Buddhist or Taoist. Not high educated one. Maybe primary school chinese only. Occasionally see her with her family burning incense or paper monies during whatever festivals.

It just they ( her and her kakis ) look down on people who recycle even theres real value in the item. A impression perception thing or a image they take it as negative, maybe seah suay.

What i feel rather disappointed is she read chinese newspapers. Seen her always buy evening chinese newspapers.

I wondered if she ever read article on what 星雲大師父 wrote ,

    聖人經常勉救人, 所以沒有被遺棄的人; 經常善于物盡其用, 所以沒有被廢棄的物品.
I m no saint nor wisenor intelligent.
I m doing what companies are practicing , cut cost save cost. Like QC we have material review board.

I wondered if 星雲大師父 come to our neighbourhood and do recycling to encourage others at the time, will she make jokes or will she praise him ?

  • @corruption perception index:

We hear you bro…. Although Transparency International ranked Singapore 3rd least corrupt society last year YET the world’s expert economists in 2016 have exposed this Singapore government as 4th most corrupted crony-capitalist regime in the world behind Russia, Malaysia and Philippines with India at 7th place.

Hey man, there’s no parliament in the whole wide world – except in Sinchiapor Inc. – where majority party MPs and ministers can have one or more “secret salaries” with government-linked commercial organisations; no transparency there so therefore no accountability to us citizens….

Hoseh ah! Two systems in one little island state…. Exploit grannies and grandpa’s without min. wage; pack’em in the hundreds of thousands of foreign LEVY slaves and foreign not-so-talented workers. And suffocate Singkies with more and more taxes, frozen wages and top of the world costs of living….

  • Harder Truths:

    Oliver.

The majority of people in Communist Island will very very soon understand what living in a depression is like. Unlike the 60′s when the SEA trade was booming and the old man could take credit for what was a stroke of good luck – there is no way $G can escape what is already here.

You do not choose a government for good times. You choose one for the bad times that can happen any moment. A good government is a fail-safe.

The system is broken. There is no one to fix it. The majority are ok with that. For the FT and those that exploit what is left this is their last chance to load up and leave.

The current generations below 50 were born and lived in relative comfort and prosperity. They will learn their mistakes the hard way. There is nothing more that can be done now.

Bro Boh Chee = Human Nature,

The truth is more Christians voted PAP than Buddhist or Taoist. There are many old school old aged who are mostly self centred or selfish, but again this selfish trait is common with Singaporeans. The younger ones may think recycle is good but again, when comes to other things, they display the same behavior.

Actually Singapore is similar to HK or China, human selfishness comes before anything, money is number 1. If you go to these places, you see Singapore is fast becoming like them too.

The third world foreigners also same issue, but they are even more arrogant because they think they are back by govt and they are real talents. These people throw rubbish or whatever like what they do in third world countries.
