The Prime Minister undermines and insults those who voted the opposition in the last general election

By calling them “free riders” the prime minister undermines and insults those who voted the opposition in the last general election. It shows the contempt he has for us, ordinary people. If we don’t vote for the PAP, we are free riders because we expect others to vote the PAP.

The Cambridge English dictionary defines this phrase “free rider” as “a person or company that gets an advantage without paying for it or earning it: Free riders are those workers who benefit from the existence of labor unions, but who don’t belong to a union.”

I would have been very happy if the PAP lost its majority in the last election and is not the government today. But I am intelligent enough to know that that would not happen even though I had voted for the WP and had hoped that its East Coast team would win. I am definitely not a free rider and I am sure Singaporeans have voted responsibly and calculated their bets carefully.

The other point which PM Lee made and which irks me is his opinion of the civil service. He said:

“Indeed, we have designed it to the best of our ability so that if the PAP is out of Government, it shall not collapse straightaway. But let me just ask you whether you really believe that if the PAP hands over to a new opposition party, the system can work the way it has been working? Yes, you can keep it flying, there’s an autopilot and you can fly straight and level for some time.

“You need to run a system which is finely tuned and capable, you need a capable hand at the top… That’s how we have done Covid-19. That’s how the ministerial task force has operated — long discussions, all views heard, and finally the ministers must decide. And from time to time, the decision is not what the staff consensus comes up with because partly there may be political factors, but sometimes because the minister must exercise judgement and take responsibility.”

Read TodayOnline

The prime minister is admitting that the ministers did not take the advice of the civil service, particularly when they were tackling Covid-19. I presume the ministers did not even listen to the doctors who attended to the patients and know much more than them. Little wonder that the pandemic was so badly handled with more than 56,000 infections. The PM could only brag about the low death rate, which credit must belong to the doctors and hospital staff, not the ministers.

PM Lee thinks the world of himself and his million dollar colleagues. He undermines the calibre of opposition leaders today and assumes that only the PAP can govern Singapore and govern well.

We all know why the opposition in Singapore is weak. Let me remind him that had it not been for him and his predecessors in employing unfair and immoral tactics in arresting brilliant opposition leaders in the past and imprisoning them without trial, the PAP would have been and remain an opposition party today.

  • PAP failed Singaporeans:

Straits Times: 75 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, including 1 in community and 14 imported

60 of the 75 are in the foreign workers dormitories. How many BILLIONS have been spent on tackling the pandemic in the dorms and the end is still not in sight.

The public health risk posed by the over-crowded, filthy dorms was known from the outset yet PAP allowed it. It pandered to the greedy, family-controlled local companies addicted to “cheap” foreign unskilled workers.

  • LHL is a "free-rider":

“Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.” LHL must have forgotten this when mentioned “free-riders”. LHL and his wife are the biggest free-riders in the country. PAP’s GRC scheme gets free-riders into Parliament. PAP’s “chosen” Elected President get a “free-ride” to the post by eliminating challengers through change in rules who can run.

  • PAP d Problem:

It has to mean the same things Loong/PAP also must be telling off voters of PAP in opposition won wards when they are free riders of what opposition voters voted in their MPs doing good for them.

  • PAP GUARANTEED TO LOSE:

    Well said.

Many countries in the region have had change of leaders from other political parties and have made great progress.

If the PM were to talk so arrogantly like this in Indonesia for example he’d have been kicked out long ago.

He and his ilk have stayed too long and have become too complacent and fostered a culture of cronyism and groupthink.

The law must be changed to permit only two terms for the PM post.

  • Liew Mun Leong talking cock:

Bloomberg: Singapore Airport Chairman Faces Backlash Over Maid Theft Case

“When contacted, Liew said that as the High Court has made its judgment of the case, he should respect it and will not make any further comments.”

    —————–

LML is dreaming if he thinks he can get away with a comment “he should respect (High Court) judgement and will not make any further comment.”

The Court believed the maid and acquitted her. The other side of “this coin” is that the Court did not believe the allegations made by the Liew family.

If the claim of the maid is proven true (that she was illegally deployed to clean the home and office of Karl Liew) then Liew Mun Leong must be held accountable.

Temasek’s defense of Liew Mun Leong is laughable considering it did not mention the TENS OF MILLIONS he was paid for his contribution to the private and public sectors. He did not do these pro-bono. Singapore owes Liew Mun Leng nothing. He was well paid for what he did. Temasek is playing “fast-and-loose” with the facts a.k.a. “talking cock”.

BTW, the Liew family has a “messy” past. In 2018 Karl Liew go into trouble when he was found liable for a $6.5m guarantee he made to a client. Want to know more Google the following: “Ex-banker found liable for $6.5 million guarantee claimed by former client”. This was the headline of an article published in the Straits Times 3rd Jan 2018. Liew Mun Leong likely bailed him out because he was making millions.

At the very most he could have been an academic.

Never worked a day outside the military but promoted by his father to be the PM.

A Super majority has made him arrogant.

Despite earning millions from taxpayers yet he has to fix the opposition to secure his position but can’t fight fair. Such a person doesn’t deserve respect at all.

  • DESIDERATA (I):

    Desiderata
GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.

Don’t be too bothered about his free rider comment lah, we already have had so many names thrown at us previously. Remember someone said we could be trained like woof woofs? Or being told 3 meals at a restaurant? Our women become maids in other countries? REPENT!!

So we have been unsulted one too many times and after a while no one talks about it anymore excpet to bring it up on occassion. But remember this fellow Singaporeans, we showed PAP we weren’t afraid of them in 2011 and this year.

So insult us all you want, it’s not going to change since you already have that sort of thinking and attitude. Payback will come in an election!
