Five ‘expensive’ mayors

Author: So, we will have 5 mayors under the new lhl government and they don’t come cheap. In fact, relative to their perceived services, they will cost our taxpayers a big bomb during this very challenging and uncertain time.
If foreign embassies were to report back to their governments about our 5 new mayors, I wonder if they will hold up their appointments in miniature Singapore as explemary example of an able and competent lhl government or conclude that their appointments as being spendthrift and unnecessary.
New York and London have mayors too and they look after areas and populations much bigger and larger than Singapore. China has it equivalent too but they are paid much lesser and no less incompetent!
I bet their mayors must be green with envy and jealousy when they look at our mayors. I wonder also how are foreign embassies in Singapore reporting back to their governments about our everyday strolling in the park, so to speak, mayors.
I have learned a long time ago that adding another title to people for doing almost the same thing doesn’t necessary add another layer of workload or responsibility. In short, it is much ado about nothing except to cost our taxpayers even more money. Period!
With so many new mayors running here and there in Singapore, it further reinforces my opinion that the pap government is today no longer able to create good paying jobs for Singaporeans except for themselves and their friends.
Former pap MP, Zainudin Nordin was a Central CDC mayor too and the last I heard, he was arrested and out on police bail regarding some donation to the ASEAN Football Federation. I ask if anybody knows of his latest wellbeing.
All things considered, I am not in favour of having more well-packaged hot air even if it is put forth by some big titled persons. Think.

When I just arrived in China donkey years ago, a Chinese policeman told me a joke about how a government department has staff that are from one big happy family and close friends and relatives from the same village.
It appears that a friend of his just got promoted to a quite senior position in a government agency.
What happened was that hypothetically, this new senior official created a new post of Manager for his brother to be in charge of all the toilets in the building, there were 8 toilets.
This manager brother then went on to create 8 more posts for his wife, sons, close friends, and relatives to assist him as assistant managers of toilets, each assistant in charge of 1 toilet.
Then these assistant managers went on to employ deputy assistant managers, team leaders, senior toilet cleaners, assistant senior toilet cleaners, toilet cleaners, and assistant toilet cleaners.
When it comes to doing the real work, only 16 assistant toilet cleaners were cleaning the toilets daily while the rest of the “management staff” were either at home, on holiday, sexing with their mistress or playing mahjong.
In the end, that government department was practically feeding the entire village.

How much are they paid? Can the total compare with just one position of $100 million? Someone says, “quality, not quantity”. Haha. Quality plus quantity is the betterest in a unique country. Better not say which country.
Tech: Let me put it this way. Anyone of Temasick’s top honcho’s purported salary of xxx million could be used to pay off all the senior officials’ in Wuhan’s salaries for a year and still got balance to buy many many many Cirus Vision or Cessna Citation Jet. Even if used to pay for President Xi’s salary, can cover his salary and pension for life liao lor. How can then Managers of toilets compare? lol

MAYORS ARE NOT EVEN MAKING LOVE to peasants – they are just like BIG FONTS, inside is stuffed with a HUGE PAYCHECK for its members.

5 Expensive Mayors fail to eradicate ~500 Cheap Tissue Peddlers plying their trade at MRT stations, market places, hawker centres, outside malls and places where people love to throng and angels fear to tread.

The 5 Mayors should take over the running of Town Council of the whole Singapore accordingly i.e. North, South, East, West and Central.
There will be saving due to economy of scale instead of 17 individual Town Councils.

If there may really be a need for this unnecessary layer of “mayors”, then let them be non-political and elected separately – in a mayoral election – by the residents of the respective mayoral constituency. Don’t mix up these appointments with the election of MPs, correctly understood as Members of Parliament, and not some kind of super-grade MuniciPality Officers.
MPs should be engaged in political and legislative matters, and articulating about the larger issues of concern to their constituents, regarding the economy, jobs, healthcare, education, security and so on. They should not be bogged down in estate management nitty gritties which are best handled by professionals.
These professional estate managers – including the superfluous and overpaid ‘mayors’ – should be placed under the HDB or Ministry of National Development or some combine thereof, instead of the politically motivated town councils which replicate overheads and processes, and are a drain on resources, thereby running up operational costs which are ultimately paid for by the residents.

What do Mayors do? MPs are not Estate Managers. They have more important things to do such as scrutinising policies and debating them in Parliament.
Even with GRCs, why is there a need for Town Councils? They could just set up subsidaries under HDB to take care of estate matters.
Another way of diverting funds using public money. Their appointments and salaries are equivalent to that of political office holders.

Focus should be on improving the lives of the Singaporean.
Many are suffering now..amd creating a group of new Poor.
Government should cut costs and spend more on the vulnerable to help them cope with the crisis of a lifetime.
The pay of the Ministers and the office bearers is too high compare to the ordinary Singaporean.Not a good sign.
Should donate a portion to help the poor or cut their pay by 30%.

The Mayor post is yet another money-orientated scheme by the Parti Against people to pay those Papayas MPs who could not be mini-sheets. Hence, they divided Sinkapoor into five zones to bring in another bunch of 5 white MPs despite the fact that each constituency alrdy has their own elected MPs to represent the residents. Almost every scheme created is for the Papayas to pay and enrich themselves. Just watch out, I opine that in future they will add five more posts to the existing 5 Mayors in a form of Deputy Mayors. It is just like PM followed by SM, MM, ESM, etc or ministeers, Min of State, Senior Min of State, Parl secretary and Senior Parl Secretary, on and on to put more white Papayas in the pay rolls to collect millions of dollars.
