More local PMETs are suffering

My friend just told his company had 7 new positions, all filled up by Pinoys. I asked him if the hiring manager is from Philippines, he said no. He is Singaporean but he was from Philippines, now holding Pink IC. And I asked again, these Pinoys are also from Singapore? He said yes they are Permanent Citizens and New Citizens.

Is this alarming? So the govt keeps saying local employment has increased but more and more local PMETs cannot find meaning PMET jobs and end up doing PHV and Food delivery? PSP and WP had been asking a lot of difficult questions on employment and population but the establishment had always played hide and seek, and even labeling Leong as nonsense.

I again asked a number of friends in other industries, they said it is common, if the hiring is foreign born whether he is holding employment pass or PR or new citizen, he will hire his own natives. In the banking and IT industries, this is rampant and clear. As for other industries, it is also the similar. Do you seriously think they do not know the problem they created? You walk in MOM, you also be shocked the number of foreign born in there.

Do you think this has become a very serious and big problems for local born Singaporeans? Or you still waiting for establishment to change even after so many decades?

Such thing ONLY happens to Singaporean.
Everywhere I go, I see people of the same kind get employed in the same organization, be it supermarket, food outlet or company, if the manager is from China, Philipino, Indian or Malaysian They will try their best to employ their kind with a token to other kind to show no bias.

Maybe they Singaporean have learn from LKY, instead of fighting the Japanese, he works for the Japanese general, LKY in his book says that he is the translator, who knows he may have given intelligent to the enemy, that is why nobody knows until he open his mouth, because all the fighter are killed.

The govt keeps telling locals that local employment increases, it does not tell you that it is the new citizens and PRs getting the jobs.

Yes, i had encountered this in many companies.

The real issue, how about local born and bred served NS? How about our local who is born here and waiting to get into employment? What about PMETs being discriminated and forced out jobs by these foreign born?

This is an exponential issue inflicted by 61% and the party they voted.

The New Business is not about relocating yourself, your family to a distant continent.

You can collaborate with businesses in Africa, provide management expertise, do sourcing in China using your Mandarin advantage. Open markets in Asean using your intimate knowledge of Asean.

The world is now so accessible via Internet. As for onsite business management, the local African partner is important. If they have capital invested, they will seek to grow their business. Africa Rising is a reality.

The Singapore Business Federation is organizing a series of business forums…both online and in SBF venues for doing business in Africa.

The King of ESwatini led his delegation to Singapore two months ago. I was surprised that Singapore accorded him no special welcome. No mention in the locat press though CNA was there to film his speech.

The attendees were African diplomats and many locals who are in IT business seeking opportunities in ESwatini, a land-locked nation, the only monarchy in Africa.

I wonder why Singapore is not broadcasting about Africa.

Rwanda had a genocide but is now the safest country. It is land-locked but China is building a railway to link to Mombasa Port in Kenya. Take note…China is doing it. Not India who have in the past dominated businesses in Africa. Not EU or USA…mostly lip service.

There are several African embassies in Singapore. Pay them a visit and make enquiries. The path to Africa is not doing it yourself but seeking partners who are established, who are small and who need capital.

Singapore government is giving out business loans and it is not limited to growing the business in Singapore.

Summary: Set up your business, get government development loans, connect with African embassies, African business websites. Warm up to Africa.

The future is about using Singapore as the base, projecting expertise and capital to Africa, helping Africa to gain access to Far-East market, etc.

I wish our Ministers will talk and not me.

I am already involved with North Africa, yet still in Singapore because of this pandemic.

Corruption: Yes, that is a reality but Africa has 54 nations..some in chaos, many peaceful. If you are a business owner, has 51% ownership, stick to small businesses, you can survive. The corruption involves the mega international infrastructure loans. Nothing much to steal from a small company.

Is Asean corruption free? Is East Asia corruption free? Even USA has corruption and they come in various forms, shapes and disguises.

    Other potentials for investment…
Europe…with its economies entering hardship, now is the time to watch, wait and grab. There will be many distressed businesses and properties for sale.

Look ahead two years…the dust of War and sanctions will have settled. And Europe will recover. Russia is more on the European continent than in Asia…just look at map of where Moscow is.

I say panyusg, don’t dream. You can go grab all the opportunities you can milk out of this distress sales you can get from China. And hope you live to see fruits from it.

Why China was able to grow this fast after 1997 was ‘purely’ a result of Capitalism greed for centralizing manufacturing to lower cost center. With a ‘stable’ political environment since and after Deng, for a while, until XJP displayed his true color. 2017 DJ Trump saw it, and what happened that followed is now a history.

Manufacturing (and also Agriculture output) is the skeleton system of an economy in supporting secondary economic growth such as service industries, like retail, trading, tourism, medical, logistic etc. Manufacturing is a form of value added activity turning secondary or primary goods into usable products or as input to higher value manufacturing.

So now, plenty manufacturing are disappearing from China, actually since 2017/2018. What do you think?

And there are no more tour group organizing to visit China anymore?

MOST BUSINESSES THAT VENTURE ABROAD -for mist nationalities in general-HAVE THEIR * FOUNDATIONS* in the Home-country.
You need *RISK RESOURCES* to venture out.
Its like a calculated * BET* but you need ro be ready to lose money in the initial srages.
How many sgs can afford that?
Sure,if you are a FILTHY RICH RETIRED PUBLIC SERVANT,why not?
You could even casually spend money on GOURMET COOKING LE$$ON$ for the WHOLE FAMILEE?

TO BE FAIR, most sg- SMEs dont have much *RUNWAY* avail to them to truly build GOOD RETAINED EARNINGS to invest(take risks) overseas.TLCs corner all areas of business that reap EASY PROFITS domestically so much so these TLCs could afford to take reckle$$ investments abroad and lose BIG TIME.

When Ah Goh was fighting for Swiss standard of living, he was speaking for the PAPigs and their families. He wasn`t speaking about the heartlander Singaporeans. For the local born Singaporean heartlanders, it`s Swiss cost of living. When will Sinkies learn? Inflation in Singapore today is higher than in Japan. Singapore`s inflation rate averages 3%. Japan`s inflation averages 2.6%. We have let the PAPigs to control 90% of the land and your flat belongs to govie and not you. It is not flat. It is a purchased flat and owned by Mr. HDB. You need to Mr. HDB`s permission for anything legal or financial or even changing your the structure of your leased flat. Singaporeans have to demand ownership of their purchased flats and that they be freehold. PAPigs write the tax laws to the extent they removed the estate duty taxes so that these millionaires PAPigs and their rich kakis pay $0 tax on inheriting their freehold properties. Working class Sinkies pay to feed the PAPigs. Every workday, 2 hours is devoted to paying for PAPigs`s income. Sinkies serve NS and get nothing. Serve reservist and get nothing. You are accurate about local heartlander voters being slowly and surely being replaced at the voting booths with newly minted pink ICs. First, PR letters are post delivered by govie in their letter boxes. Once the foreign family accepts PR, govie send an invitation to take on pink IC ONE year after issuing the PR letter. My neighbor, whole family from India and another from China told me this. They have planning to devalue heartlander votes, in part, they don’t need to depend on local votes when they have created a new citizen pink IC vote base. This will guarantee their hegemonic rule and $$$$$$$$ salaries. They essentially recycle the top jobs and opportunities to their families and cronies.

    Take this simple case.

Initially, ministers came out to tell sgs they must accept lower salaries or get replaced by *CBF* FTs.
Then, when sgs ask for help,G told us that the young sgs would have to shoulder more future tax burden if the G acceded to the jobless sgs’ needs. But when Covid strikes, wht G cannot tell FTs to accept oay-cuts but instead RAID SGS’ RESERVES to subsidise wages including expensive FTs who robbed our jobs by virtue they were CHEAPER?

Now,WHY DONT G FUND jobless sg-PMEs to start up new business?

Even once a darling,HYFLUX was not helped?

hahaha ?? tell that to your dear white monkey idiots lar and why it becomes this way ?? is it because of the whole economic model and structure and the way daft sinkies have been brought up by the educational system (not purely academic per se but the whole thought & critical thinking processes, etc, etc which are hardwired into adulthood ??)??

why bother if easier mojo (low hanging fruits ??) is available (vote teasers right ??) – link here and there activities in a small red dot right ??

there are many grants here and there currently to boost up mojo lar (also mojo for consultants, experts and solution service providers lar ??) – even for hawker entrepreneurship , what happens if it dries up ??

wow pian, sinkie land keeps on attracting so much foreign investment if not for daft sinkies (so that they can be trained, build up real skills, competence and gainfully progress in an actual working environment NOT some silly upgrading course ?) orlese for what ???

//Singaporeans are timid. The world beyond Singapore is not desirable except to visit and to come home.//

aiyoh. sinkies are trained to be timid lar ?? of course if can, come home lar ?? that’s your roots right ?? the moment you treat the world your home and your home like a hotel for holidays, then stop talking about nationhood and defending it lar (or is it all a lie after all this time ???) ??? perhaps in times to come, more and more people are going to feel like that, NO REAL ATTACHMENT TO ANYTHING ??

Putting aside the emotions, I hope the Millenials in Singapore will form their own NGO to look for investments globally.

Unlike the past, never put your money in the hands of others…especially those glib talking ang-moh promoters. Instead, Singaporeans can manage the investments.

Singaporeans can start their own investment enterprises, network with those who are already in Europe, who have contacts. Or find ways to connect with Singaporeans who are in Europe.

Do not depend on the Government. Rise up and take charge of your destiny.

Well said. One of the challenges is finding people who won’t run away with the money.
