The Case for a Diverse and Balanced Parliament

The Singapore government has recently stated that "Good government needs good people" and cautioned against playing dangerous games with tactical voting. However, this claim overlooks a critical reality: while good people are essential, relying solely on their virtue is insufficient for effective governance. Even the most well-intentioned individuals can succumb to temptation or be corrupted over time. This is where a system of checks and balances, particularly through a more robust opposition presence in Parliament, becomes crucial.

It is, quite frankly, unrealistic to expect a single party or the government alone to critically evaluate its own actions and policies. Self-reflection in governance often falls short, as it requires a level of objectivity and willingness to challenge the status quo that is difficult to achieve within a dominant, singular system. A vibrant opposition is necessary to bring differing perspectives to the table, question decisions, and advocate for policies that truly reflect the needs and desires of all Singaporeans.

Singapore deserves a Parliament that is not only made up of good people but also diverse perspectives, coming from various parties and walks of life. Such diversity will inject the kind of dynamic vigor needed to create policies that are more attuned to the complexities of our society. Singular, uncontested representation will not deliver the balance and adaptability required for governance that works for everyone. The very foundation of a thriving democracy lies in the constant interplay of differing voices and ideas.

In essence, we should embrace the idea that a good government is not simply about good people but about creating a system that allows for those good people to be held accountable, questioned, and inspired by a diverse range of opinions and experiences. A healthy Parliament is one that challenges itself to grow, adapt, and truly serve the interests of all Singaporeans.

  • Harder Truths:

Going back to 2011 – $inkieland ha the best lineup of opposition candidates – able to do a really good job. But they forgot that $tupid $heeple are backstabbers. They let all the oppo down because they wanted to play games to get more goodies from the Regime.

Well – the good people are not wasting their time anymore with being oppo and taken advantage of. They have moved on and know that even if they return the $tupid $heeple only want to pretend to vote for them.

Now in 2025 all those $tupid $heeple are either in old folks homes, with no jobs and looking for handouts. Cannot afford HDB flats. As one infamous guy said – why do you need to eat 3 times a day?

Forget about a good oppo. $inkies have made sure no dedicated person will ever stand for election. Now all that is left is goondus, blur sotong and fornicators. Some cannot even speak proper English and use derogatory racist language and claim they did not know. This is what $tupid $heeple deserve if they vote for more oppo.

Therefore the sound solution will be to continue to give all your support to the current ruling party.

  • Relax:

    @“use derogatory racist language “

Response: the Indian singaporeans have raise different views pertaining to this issue and seems like some perceived it as not derogatory. They even explained how this word come about and used in Singapore by different dialect groups. Just wondering is there a need for the national steering committee on racial and religious harmony or the president to clarify this doubt for the sake of harmony going forward?
