Dear Straits Times, I refer to the 28 Jul 2011 letter by Mr Eric Tin. Mr Tin claims that Mr Tan Kin Lian is being self-contradictory when Mr Tan argued on the one hand for the elected president to represent the views of the people and actively engage in public debate while accepting on the other hand that the elected president... 

I find I really welcome it when Mr Tan Jee Say, on the first day it was known of his intention to run for presidency, proposed to turn our presidential palace grounds (not including the offices, of course) into a public park, for everyone to be able to go in every day to enjoy the space. It would indeed be a very honourable... 

I read with astonishment your comment in The Straits Times “How Singapore Punches Above its Weight” dated 23 July 2011 on the tenet of Singapore being open to foreign talent. Let me first say that this reliance on foreign talent is a fairly new concept that the PAP adopted in the last 15 years and not one that was the focus...
