Maybe the problem with meritocracy and the current thinking of our PAP government and leadership? Maybe they think too highly for themselves, that given them any position, they can pass with flying colors as they always did in schools and exams, but never thought about the real practical and the real experience needed to... 

The PAP will weaken the opposition if the latter becomes too strong or can affect the opinion of Singaporean masses. Just look at Lim Chin Siong, Chia Thye Poh, J.B.
