所有政党的一个共同政治目的应该都是要为人民提供一个舒适的生活环境，而人民行动党在1984年向人民承诺，新加坡将会在1999年达到一个瑞士水平的生活程度。 根据不久前UBS银行的一份报告《价格和收入2009》，从多项指标来看，新加坡这个人均收人在亚洲区中名列前茅的国家，其普通人民的生活水平却和一些第三世界人口不相上下。研究报告认为，其主要原因是人民的收入偏低。 从工资指标来看，新加坡略优于莫斯科和南非，远低于东京，悉尼，香港，也略低于台北和首尔。从购买力的指标来着，新加坡和吉隆坡不相上下，比东欧的华沙和南美洲的波哥达略佳。 日本的生活成本虽然比新加坡高昂，但人民享有高购买力，而马来西亚人均虽不如新加坡，但人民亦享有高购买力。因为高购买力可以减少生活程度高的压...
