US faces fire from Saudi & UAE as Israel war spills into Middle East

The United States is facing fire from Arab nations, including its ally. Saudi Arabia and the UAE warned the Joe Biden administration that the time to contain Middle East crisis is running out and that immediate ceasefire in Gaza is the only way to stop a wider regional conflict.

In an interview to CNN, Saudi's foreign minister said that there was a dangerous escalation in the Red Sea amid Houthis vs Israel-U.S. counter-attacks. UAE's envoy to the UN said that the U.S. had a crucial role to play amid its support to Israel's war in Gaza.

In my view, the biggest mistake in the “War on Terror” was the decision to back Saudi Arabia, despite knowing they’re exporting radical Wahaabism (Sunni).
Al Qaeda from Afghanistan was a Sunni fundamentalist group. 15 of the 19 hijackers in 9/11 were Saudis. All were Sunni. When the Taliban held power in Afghanistan, it was recognized by 3 countries. These were Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan. All are US “allies” with Sunni majority.

On the other hand, Iran is majority Shia not Sunni. In contrast, Iran regarded the Taliban as an enemy. Despite US-Iran hostility (stemming from bilateral differences), the Taliban was recognized as a common enemy by both. Meetings were held between the two at the UN to seek common ground. Iran supported the Northern Alliance to resist the Taliban. It was a secular alliance – with progressive attitudes towards women – which held on to four northern districts in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance assisted in the US ground invasion. Iran produced a detailed map of Taliban targets within Afghanistan, speeding up the US invasion significantly. This is the reason the US reached Kabul in November 2001 instead of early 2002.

Were US bothered by those cynicism/warnings? This situation ultimately benefits the rocket factories while Netanyahu takes their checks and throws Biden under the bus. Weakness, indecision, and half measures — and wildly poor judgement — whether on Covid, Afghanistan, Ukraine, China, and now Israel–characterized Joe Biden’s governance since he entered the White House. The attacks on American personnel (and on international shipping, causing catastrophic disruption of global commerce) are the direct result of his unconditional embrace of Benjamin Netanyahu. This unholy bargain he made with right wing zealots caused October 7 and the ensuing tragedy. My heart breaks for the families and their loved ones in Israel/Gaza but, I believe, that the group presently in power in Israel are not concerned with them but in forwarding their own agenda, cruel as it is.

In a way, the Ukraine War and the Israelis/Anglosaxon War against the Arabs and Muslims are a blessing to the rest of the peaceful countries in the world. Let the bloodthirsty terrorists engage in their unending wars to rule the world. Just keep in out of Asia and SE Asia.

The clowns in Asean must not be coerced by the Americans to start a war in the region. See how fortunate we are living in peace and continuing with our lives normally without the tragedy of wars and a few idiots thumping their chests and calling themselves war heroes.

  • Both Saudi and UAE are just blowhards, they will talk a lot but dare not do anything to piss off the US and its cahoots. If Saudi had wanted to seriously do anything, they could just stop exporting oil for a while and the world’s oil prices would shoot to the Moon. Then the pressure from the world on the US would be so great that Biden would have to slap his master Netanyahu very hard in the face to stop his nonsense.

Another concern that the Saudi and UAE have is that the Houthis have vowed to start fireworks in their oil fields should the US and its cahoots invade Yemen and that is almost certain going forward.
