ICJ will deliver Israel’s genocide ruling on Friday (Jan 26)

The International Court of Justice will deliver its ruling on the South Africa-Israel case in the Hague on Friday. South Africa dragged Israel to the World Court, accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza.

Israel has rejected the accusations, saying it has a right to defend itself against Hamas. The Palestinian organisation orchestrated the 7 October incursion where 1 200 people died. Israel has since retaliated and almost 26 000 people have died in Gaza.

It is opined that any ICJ rulings will have no impact whatsoever on Israel, as Israel has been known to ignore UNSC resolutions in past.

Beside, observers have also opined that the US controls UN and ICJ is under the purview of UN, and the US Congress is owned by AIPAC and is heavy under Jewish influence, the ICJ is unlikely to rule against Israel.

Therefore any adverse ruling the ICJ maybe issues, is at best symbolic.

  • ICJ can rule any which way it wants, and Israel will just ignore all of them, Netanyahu has made this very clear during the trial.

Any ruling against Israel is at best symbolic and there is nothing the ICJ can do about it.

Agreed fully. Though this seems a ‘make or break’ decision for the ICJ and if it rules against what the majority of the world’s countries’ want based on the evidence (rather than what the US and its allies in the West want) which is an immediate ceasefire then it will be seen as just another tool of domination by a few countries and therefore an irrelevant entity. And the sooner the better given it is just a political organ of the UN.

I am pretty sure the judges on the ICJ’s panel are also concerned with their image in the court of world opinion. And to say that words on a ‘pieces of paper’ outweighs what was said in public is fanciful and pure rubbish. I imagine a ruling against Israel would mean the Court decision would be rejected by Israel and the US. Netanyahu and many generals stated that they aim was to wipe out Hamas and every once in a while they would slip and say Palestinians.
We’ll see what the court decides…

I am sure South Africa (SA) meant well, having experienced the same shit as the Palestinians in Gaza.

Unfortunately, they are against Genocidal Joe Biden, who happens to be the most powerful man on Earth and leader of warmongering US.

So SA only can lan lan.

  • The tough ones get going:

“ yes, you are wrong “!

“ yes, you are correct “!

There is no difference between this two statements?

Obviously, pessimistic individuals would not be able to sense the difference.

Truly wish that the ICJ will say the right things. Even if nothing physical can be done, a moral booster will gives strength for the tough ones to get going.

  • SINGAROAR:

The Genocide charges will take years to conclude but Israel has failed in its attempt to get the case dismissed. It has to allow humanitarian trucks in though no ceasefire was declared. However there must be a ceasefire for the trucks to go into GAZA. So the ruling actually makes the Israelis stop the bombing.

Tech: Israel has said that it will ignore ICJ’s ruling, so the whole world all lan lan. The ruling is as good as a piece of toilet paper.

I was surprised that Israel even bothered paying attention to the South African accusations or the ICJ. If all the Court did was tell Israel “prevent genocide” and facilitate humanitarian aid (i.e., comply with international law), then this is an unequivocal win for the consensus Israeli position that its full scale ground war to destroy Hamas in Gaza, although regrettably and horrifyingly destructive, is necessary and justified. It is an unequivocal loss for Israel’s critics in their calls for a cease fire. Is that the sound of slap on a wrist I hear?
