I have recently received a Ministry of Health's (MOH) advisory telling me to go for my C19 booster jab. I took 2 Chinese Sino Pharm jabs and my last jab was taken over a year ago.

Covid 19 has been with us for >4 years now and generally, people's understanding about it now is a lot more and better than when it first landed in Singapore.

The few key takeaways are that if contracted, seniors are more likely to be severely affected by it than most people, having been vaccinated doesn't preclude one from being contracted, there is no historical datas whatsoever about its safety and efficacy, there is no effective medicine for it, the mRNA technology that Pfizer and Moderna use is a brand new medical technology with numerous reports of myocarditis, pericarditis and other side effects and I might add that for those who took the mRNA jabs, adverse side effects, if any and with no expiry date could possibly harm and haunt people in unimaginable ways in the months and years into the future.

In short, it is the genuine fear of the unknown.

As of today, I believe that it is reasonably fair and correct to say that people's fear of the mRNA vaccine is more than their fear of C19 itself. It is burying our heads into the sand and choosing not to see it attitude if we pretend and/or ignore this situation.

I have decided not to go for my booster jab.

Seriously, MOH could have done a better job simply by including an accompanying note together with their advisory spelling out the advantages of taking the booster jab such as even if one contracts C19, his/her conditions might not be as bad lalala...etc and then let people decide with that informed knowledge and/or reminder.

Many sceptics must argue that if C19 booster jabs are really that useful and safe, then all the pap ministars and their families, all the pap MPs and even those pap members must get themselves up to date booster vaccinated first and then loudly and visibly announce and publicise them to Singaporeans in order to lend credence and credibility to their own advisory sent out to the people, ie, to know the way, goes the way and shows the way as worthy leaders would. No?
