Instead of being intimidated into silence, netizens come out strongly to voice their support for YOG critic Abdul Malik who shot to international fame instantaneously after being arrested by the Singapore police for "inciting violence and public disorder". Mr Malik had posted a comment on his Facebook taking Dr Vivian to task for the YOG mass food poisoning scandal on 15 August which caused 21 YOG volunteers to suffer from diarrhoea after taking food provided by the YOG caterer. According to the New Paper, Mr Malik posted a comment written in capital letters saying that the incident showed it was time to “burn” the minister. In the same posting, he also called on the public to “rally together”. He was arrested at his workplace two days ago by three plain-clothes police officers from Bedok Police Division whose Commander is DAC Teo Chun Ching and Head Investigator is DSP Goh Tat Boon. They have squandered our taxpayers money and what did we get? There's more publicity for the Commonwealth and even Asian games rather then this silly YOG business." Zulkarnian Hassan: "Someone's got money to b#$@, 400 million of it. Thanks for giving us a new 4 letter word, Malik." Azmi: "Hahaha dun need $400 million to spent, just need MALIK to do the job done!! Hahah thanks dude... Hahaha!!" Mr Malik insists that his conscience is clear and has nothing wrong and he will continue to speak up for fellow Singaporeans. The fear-mongering tactic employed by the Singapore police doesn't appeared to work this time as MrMalik is turned into a sort of celebrity overnight. Singapore without PAP, LETS IMAGINE…. Singaporean being equal in line with cheap labours like Burma and Filipinos, Singaporean women joining hands with the Indonesian and Filipinos to work as helpers . Msian and Brunei currency being stronger than singapore, imagine we going to JB to work as drivers and secrity guards and cisco police. Yes the above is all a product of non good governing system, we Singaporean boast with arrogance, rememmber who is indirectly responsible for that very pride and arrogance ? Definitely with no doubt our current ruling Govt . So as a true born Singaporean i am enjoying all these safety and recognition and arrogance as a Singaporean, not becz of Singapore it is becz of good stable Govt, i never want to risk myself voting for an inexperienced Party, our Govt will think 10 years ahead . I do not want to vote for an opposition which will bring Singapore 20 Years back with lousy public administration . 1. I have brethed the saftey under PAP. 2. I never gone hungry under the leadership of PAP. 3. I was never robbed or was a victim at 3AM while walking in a dark street . 4. I never faced a corruption from any officials diverting from their staraight suppose to do duty, there might be arogance, bad attitude, racial biasness . A massive outcry has erupted among Singaporeans following the arrest of YOG critic Mr Abdul Malik by the Singapore police two days ago ostensibly for "inciting violence and public disorder" with a comment he posted on Facebook. Mr Malik (picture left) posted the comment in response to the YOG food poisoning scandal involving 26 YOG volunteers on 15 August. He wrote that it is time to "burn the sports minister and PAP" and called on Singaporeans to "rally around and vote them out." He was arrested at his workplace two days ago by three plain-clothes police officers from Bedok Police Division whose Commander is DAC Teo Chun Ching and Head Investigator is DSP Goh Tat Boon. The shocking news spread like wildfire throughout cyberspace leaving many netizens flabbergasted at the action taken by the authorities and lampooning the PAP regime for its "paranoia" [Please sign the petition demanding a public apology from Dr Vivian Balakrishnan for mismanaging the YOG here.] Below is a snapshot of the original comment posted by Mr Abdul Malik on Facebook: Nicholas Lynn felt it is a "massive overreaction" while Ng Hong Wei wrote that the arrest showed that Singapore is "a police state masked by the name of democracy". Charlene Zhang thought that the arrest was a "scare-tactic" and it would not stop her from continuing to criticize the YOG. Chew Keng Hui asked: "How about the word flame? He is being flamed by the people for misusing the funds and messed up the event. He deserved to be flame. The word flame here does not literally equates to setting the person on fire." Mr Malik's arrest was reported by international news agency AFP and was soon reproduced in all the major papers in the world. Coincidentally the AFP report contained a potentially "provocative" sentence which may "incite violence and public disorder" according to the unique understanding of the Singapore police. "Vivian Balakrishnan, the minister for community development, youth and sports, has come under particular FIRE from online critics over the games."
