Houthi’s targets subsea cables linking Europe to Asia
After disrupting international sea traffic, Houthi militants now targeted global communication systems. According to a recent report, the Yemeni group knocks out key underwater cables linking Europe to Asia. The report said that four underwater communications cables- belonging to AAE-1, SEACOM, EIG, and TGN Systems- between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti out of commission.
The Houthis has earlier pledge to not damage these cables but apparently the relentless US and UK bombings of its mainland infrastructure, including a seaport has finally 'convinced' the group to change its mind.
