1. China had foresight. They required social media platforms to be subject to state censorship, to prevent false and harmful content from being spread. 2. The western nations and their social media platforms smeared China for the "censorship" against "freedom of speech". 3. The western nations now realize that they also have to censor the content that is being spread on their social media platforms. They created a new term for censorship. They said that it is to meet "community standards". 4. The method adopted by the western platforms is more sinister. Apart from censoring false and harmful contents, they appear to be acting for commercial reasons as well. Their algorithm will block or reduce the spread of content that are detrimental to their advertising revenue. 5. Being dishonest, the western nations will never admit that the approach taken by China was the wise and correct approach. 6. I have, for a long time, held the view that the censorship of social media should be extended beyond what was adopted by China. I would require every user to be registered and verified. I would disallow multiple profiles for the same person. We are now going into the Perfect Storm of Global Financial Turmoil with the Great Collapse of USD Dominance and US Empire. It may result in World War III. The Germans started World War II amidst its failing financial system with hyperinflation destroying its economy. There was basically a bank run on the whole country. Similar signs are emerging in US though with very pretext. The enormous debts US has accumulated over the years with great amount of it held by foreign countries are in essence, similar to Germany owning European countries great amount of debts after WW I. It triggered hyperinflation, just like what we are seeing in US right now. Of course, the current situation is more complex. US landed with historical huge debts because of its abuse on its Petrol Dollar status. When US is owing so much debts to other countries, it chooses to weaponize its USD. That added to the international worries over the sustainability of US uncontrollable increase in debts. US is now like a big international banker which could print money for the whole world. Its money USD can only have value if and only if all countries have confidence in USD that could allow them to buy goods and services from other countries. The most important fundamental backing of USD, apart from US economy and its ability to provide goods and services to other countries, is the oil producing countries agreeing to trade oil in USD. USD was the only Petrol Dollar but not anymore. Its dominance has been eroded when oil producing countries started to accept other currencies as payment for their oil! This started off when US weaponized USD against Russia. Such move, which is basically an abuse of its Petrol Dollar status, has resulted in the disquiet of many countries and they started to worry the same thing might happen to them! Although the initiative and efforts of de-dollarization had started decade ago, but there wasn't any push factor for countries to change status quo on their reliance on USD. BUT seeing how US could WEAPONIZE USD against Russia and potentially to any country unilaterally without international agreement, the fear of suffering the same faith has become the greatest push factor for them to accelerate the process of de-dollarization. Chinese Yuan has become the natural choice as a replacement for USD as Petrol Dollar due to its economic size and multi regional influence due to One Belt One Route strategy. On the other hand, Russia is a large oil producing country. Such sanction would naturally make Russia to dump USD as the currency for all its trade, including oil. China is the greatest purchaser of oil and naturally, Russia would prefer to accept Yuan as the replacement for USD Petrol Dollar! When the Saudi moved to accept Yuan as payment for its oil as well, it basically mean demand on USD will drop tremendously. Then Brazil, one of the largest exporter of farm produce, started to switch to Yuan. Indonesia, the largest country in ASEAN, has pushed for de-dollarization as well. All these have only one common impact, the reduction of demand of USD internationally. Yet, US is trying to raise a its debt ceiling while other countries are selling off its Treasury Bills and demand on USD for trade has dropped. Huge US debts can only be sustained and supported by huge international demand of USD. If US continues to ignore the basic principles that makes its dominance of USD works and proceed to incur more debts and printing more money, this will become the Perfect Storm of the total collapse of USD which will trigger a stampede and bankrun on USA!
