译者:韦春花 消息来自“网络讯息组” 内政部长真的掌握马士沙拉末被捕的消息，还是和大家一样从新闻报道那儿听来的？ 又或者他知道之后，仍继续在他的部属面前演戏？ 黄根成说“马来西亚当局在4月1日的逮捕后不久就通知新加坡。” （见引述资料） 于是他在接到通报之后，立刻求见李显龙总理。总理当时的反应是：“太好了，我们总于捉住他。” （见引述资料） 这个“不久”是多久呢？黄根成 (Wong Kan Seng)确凿知道马士沙拉末落网的日期是几时？2009年4月1日之后的一天、两天、一个星期还是一个月! ？ 根据海峡时报，马来西亚首相纳吉出席4月10日和11日在泰国芭堤雅召开的亚细安峰会时，已经通知李显龙有关马士沙拉末落网的消息。 看来李显龙比黄根成更早知道这个消息。因为在2009年4月15日，黄根成向内安部官员讲话时，豪无犹豫地说逮捕马士沙拉末的行动将继续执行。 那是一场内安部官员擢升仪式，黄根成说道： “这个部门不时都得面对挑战。我明白许多来自不同分队的官员都被派遣参与这项任务，对于一些人来说，这是他们加入这个部门后所承担的一项全新任务。 “我时时都关心这个部门对于追捕马士沙拉末的进展，我从不怀疑你们的毅力和决心，我坚信只要有耐心——这也是这个部门的特长——我们最终一定能把他捉拿归案。 “最重要的�! ��我很欣慰内安部官员没有因为挫败而气馁，而毅然��负起多面向的保安任务。你们在追捕马士沙拉末的同时，也没有放松对其他安全威胁的监视，此时我也知道，这一切已经把你们磨练得超越极限。” [来源: 内政部] 从黄根成的演讲看来，他不断地加油鼓励内安部官员追捕马士沙拉末，说明他丁点儿不知道马士沙拉末已经落网，又或者说他在“庄孝维”。 如果推论属实，那么黄根成怎么可能比李显龙从纳吉那儿听到之前通知他呢？ 比较可能的情况是，黄根成是在4月15日之后听到消息，也就是在逮捕行动的两个星期之后。 从本星期五黄根成的直接反应，当媒体消息传来，他根本不像事前知道有这样的逮捕： “副总理黄根成在星期五十分激动，他详述朋友从报上获知马士沙拉末在马来�! ��亚落网的消息都纷纷来祝贺他。 “‘我很高兴，我相信所有新加坡人都会很高兴。今早我收到很多短信，都是来恭贺内安部捉到他。’” （见引述资料） 如果他预先知道，正常的反应应该是较沉稳和收敛的。 老实说，作为本区域最高薪的内政部长，黄根成似乎对邻国有关（国土）安全措施的行动一点头绪也没有。 他的前言不搭后语，实在很难建立起对他的团队的放心。 黄根成声称，去年底内安部有的一项情报让马士沙拉末的藏身之处曝光。 可是在今年的2月5日，他明明告诉国会：他不能百分百肯定马士沙拉末已经逃出国外或者仍在新加坡。 黄根成对此次逮捕马士沙拉末可说是些微或者是没有功劳! 。我们应该感谢马来西亚特别部门粉碎了马士沙拉末���击新加坡的阴谋。 或许黄根成应该考虑把囚禁马士沙拉末的任务外包给马来西亚当局，以免再次蒙羞，因为马士沙拉末有可能再玩他一次。 出处：大马论坛  Read More →

From The Informant Network Team It appeared that the Straits Times journalists are learning a trick or two from their PAP masters on the art of "flip-flop" after witnessing the recent "wayang" by S Iswaran and Lee Bee Wah. As a national English daily, we would expect some degree of consistency and reliability in its reporting. Its latest flip-flop over the capture of Mas Selamat does not inspire confidence or trust in the authencity and credibility of its articles. On 9 May 2009, the Straits Times proclaimed that Mas Selamat was caught when it was asleep:   "MAS Selamat Kastari, one of the region's most wanted terrorists, was nabbed while he was asleep in a secluded kampung house in Skudai, Johor, The Star reported on Saturday. He could barely put up a struggle in his shorts and T-shirt when he was caught during a dawn raid on April 1." (read article here) Three days later, it is now reported that Mas Selamat had "put up a struggle" when the police arrived:   "Malaysian police had closed in on him and were shouting to him to surrender, but Mas Selamat Kastari refused to give up. He clambered up to the second floor of the kampung house he was hiding in and tried to flee." (read article here) So which version is correct? Unless Mas Selamat was sleep-walking, either of the version must be wrong. The Straits Times is completely clueless on what is going on. Either the Malaysian authorities were feeding them the wrong information or they were simply too lazy to corroborate their claims. What are the Straits Times journalists doing these days? They don't even bother to check for the factual accuracy of their sources and proof-read for spelling mistakes before publishing their stories. On 10 May 2009, the Sunday Times published an article claiming that well-known paraplegic Dr William Tan had myelogenous leukaemia (AML) which turned out to be false (read article here) With this kind of atrocious journalistic standards, the Straits Times is definitely not worth the price readers have been paying for. The incredulous revelation that Mas Selamat had escaped from Singapore by swimming across the Straits of Johor had already made the Singapore Home Team a laughing stock in the world. The Straits Times seemed eager to jump onto the bandwagon to share the Home Team's "honor" with its slipshod coverage which serves more to mislead and confuse Singaporeans than to inform.  Read More →

By Neil Khor from Malaysiakini We have had the weekend to think about what happened in Perak and to aid us on our way, three Hindraf leaders were released from ISA detention. Scores of protesters were also freed, so was the man who asked us to wear black. The other weekend bonanza was the audit report of the Port Klang "scandal" that is still not ready for public release. If, as reported, the price-tag has ballooned to RM12 billion, this is a monumental waste of public funds. Thinking of the schools, bridges, hospitals, low-cost housing that could have been built wiped away the good feelings the government generated by "freeing" of ISA detainees, political activists and a very politically-aware fashion guru. Basically both the Perak and Port Klang "scandals" are merely symptoms of a wider problem. They point to the growing anxiety of the middle ground. It is an uneasy feeling generated by some government politicians who continue to ignore public aspiration for a freer, more efficient and fairer administration. Why are Malaysians suddenly concerned about their rights? Why would they wear black to mourn the "demise" of democracy? When a country reaches a certain level of development, like a person of a certain age, the people begin to face existentialist problems. This is basically "why" questions: "why are we here", "what is the meaning of life"? In short, Malaysians are asking those questions about their country. Their eyes are fixed on the future. In Perak, so the story goes, the BN has 28 state assemblypersons and 3 friendly-independents on their side. Even a school boy can do the maths. Simple majority, forget about procedure, forget about the groundswell, just call in the boys and remove the speaker. We are back in business, with a budget bursting at the seams. Three months from now nobody will even remember that we had a change of government in Perak. The cynical politician may be right when he/she says that most Malaysians are not even aware of politics. But they make a potentially fatal mistake when they suggest that this means Malaysians do not want better government. Certainly, being more educated, they also want more say in how things are done. As the Perak power grab unfolded on the Internet and twitter, sympathy for the opposition has increased exponentially amongst the young. New voters and soon-to-be voters know of the "cascade" of illegalities that the BN got itself into, they read the minute-by-minute account of the incident. Some, as the blogs reveal, are angry for being treated like fools. It does not help that some newspapers continue to rub the simple BN majority in our faces, or that politicians cry "tyranny of the minority". The BN public relations machinery has to learn to be more sophisticated. Believe it or not, but some of us can read and understand the constitution. It is about time, BN politicians and their reporters in the mainstream press catch up with their electorate. The consequences of not doing so will cost them many future elections.
