By the middle of this month, >90% of MINDEF and the SAF would have received their 2nd dose of C19 vaccinations and given that, Ng Eng Hen has declared that the SAF has achieved "herd immunity". I congratulate SAF for the achievement. I admit that I do not know the significant of achieving Herd Immunity. I would be very grateful if anybody could enlighten and educate me. I thank you in advance. For the SAF, does it mean that having achieved herd immunity, SAF soldiers back in their barracks do not need to wear mask anymore? Armour personnel, air force personnel and navy personnel etc working in their camps and bases are not required to wear mask and observe safe distancing anymore or what? And if the answer is No, then what is the big deal or so special about having achieved herd immunity? In short, could the herd immunity thing be only an illusion waiting to be pricked just like our expectations of an effective vaccine being pricked big time when we discovered that even fully vaccinated persons can still be C19 infected? I seriously doubt even if MINDEF and the SAF were 100% fully vaccinated, their herd immunity will not be able to repel C19, especially those mutated variants and save everyone of them from being infected going forward. Based on Professor Chua Beng Huat's video comments:- When did Lee Kuan yew changed from a Socialist to a Capitalist? This was told to me (the author) by a Hong Kong friend, old men, in his 70’s. He was then working for the Hong Kong Housing, which Singapore government started learning their practices back in early 1960’s & 1970’s. Through the years and one visit to HK, Lee Kuan yew learn from the British colony government how they outsourced social welfare, this was unlike his thinking then, which was full 100% government responsibilities. The British colonial government have no such thinking. What Prof Chua Beng Huat said was correct. What the question is: when did Lee Kuan Yew started turning away from socialism responsibilities and “outsourcing” it? Who & where did he learn it from? Answer: Hong Kong, late 1970’s when LKY was hosting PRC opening up. ## HongKong the role model In the website blog, it stated clearly, Lee Kuan Yew was always after the “magic formula” of what makes Hong Kong such a successful entrepreneurship place. He learnt it himself, & from the way the British colonial government work, devoid responsibilities. At most, match assistance and bursary, but no responsibilities, like what Prof Chua had mentioned. Lee Ka Sing is his good buddy, that is how he brought the whole HK gang to built SunTec City. However, unlike HK, Singapore, in 1970’s, have a different set of problems, Malays, Indians and non-chinese. So LKY had to developed customized policies for different market segmentation. We did not know or realized this, including myself, unlike my HK friend shared this info, just a few years ago. ## Singapore, the Gated community government In my dreams, still, the welfare state of Finland Denmark and Nordic countries, is still what I thought the government of Singapore should be doing. Otherwise, what is the point of what we know in 1960’s, that the dream country was one that looks after you. Now wake up in 2021 to realized, even CPF needs to live till 93 years old to enjoy, instead of after 55 years old. Maybe, I am the only one with such idealism and dream that our country we call home, Singapore is making no effort to improve the situation as Prof Chua mentioned. ## Business men and government are 2 different roles. I have nothing against business men like Li ka sing…what I do question is the role of Government, the lack of social responsibilities. When the government think that they are business men, but the losses are borne by the tax payers? How different is that when someone took the tax payer money to go to the casino and gamble away the money and say that it is for the country? We need to remove PAP with such doctrine! LKY is a big fan of Hong Kong rich gang. The amount of wealth amassed, under the British, shifted down from Shanghai and other places, was an envy of LKY. Only people like us, talked about "caged people" ......which explains why my 70 years old HK's friend was a bit uncertain of telling this info..... knowing how LKY is a demi-god here.... It was his research record department of feeding to the Singapore government officials, that he was puzzled why singapore HDB, back in the 1960's & 1970's even want to know about details on how dirty and filthy conditions in housing estate etc etc... The answer: How Singapore government can be devoid of social responsibilities, before they changed their socialist to capitalist ways... as in all things, matter of fact reporting! At least three claims over serious side effects of Oxford-made vaccine AstraZeneca have been upheld in Norway, resulting in financial compensation. Dozens more are expecting a ruling in connection with coronavirus-jab reactions. The Norwegian System of Patient Injury Compensation (NPE) will make payments to three applicants badly affected by the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, it announced on Friday. It officially confirmed that the vaccine, currently suspended in the European country, has resulted in severe cases of blood clots and low platelet counts in these patients, one of whom died. Among those who suffered badly from the shot – later removed from the national vaccination program due to serious side-effects – are health workers who were prioritized to be vaccinated. The two women were hospitalized in March and one of them, who was in her 40s, died. Another applicant, an unnamed man in his 30s, is still suffering from severe immune reactions. “I was admitted to hospital with great pain. It was frightening to follow the news about others who had just died from the same vaccine,” he told NPE. Officials are now calculating the exact amount of compensation, the body’s director Rolf Gunnar Jorstad announced, saying that direct connections between the vaccine and its receivers’ deteriorated conditions have been established and medically confirmed. The family of the deceased woman will also receive payment for her funeral, he said. In total, 77 compensation claims related to side effects of Covid vaccines have been received in Norway. Over 50 of those concern AstraZeneca, while there are also complaints about Pfizer and Moderna shots. Eight of the 77 applications involve fatal cases. At the same time, more than 16,000 reports of suspected side effects of anti-Covid vaccination have been recorded by the end of June, NRK media reported, citing the Norwegian Medicines Agency. While many people complain of relatively mild symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue and dizziness, more serious medical consequences, including blood clots, bleeding, paralysis and severe allergic reactions with anaphylaxis, have also been reported. * 794 people in Norway have died with coronavirus. Some 4.2 million vaccine doses have been administered, with over 1.5 million people now being fully vaccinated. Many have received Oxford-AstraZeneca shots earlier this year but, within weeks of the launch of the vaccination campaign, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) recommended that the government stop using it, following reports of potentially fatal, rare blood clots.
