This is not a game of cardsThis is not a game of cards I can appreciate parties wanting to hold their cards close to their chest, but the smoke and mirrors games on nominations day, the shuffling of the DPM from a seat he had openly been declared to be defending, and other ministers shuffling constituencies leaves one feeling the PAP thinks it is playing a game of cards.

Cwc-Ai

Singapore’s Struggle for Success by John Drylsdale

Singapore’s Struggle for Success by John Drylsdale

John Drylsdale is a consummate writer. There can be no distinguished author of lessen talent who could write such a beautiful and picturesque narrative on the Singapore Struggle for Success which gives such a vividly dramatic and animated description of the death-defying events from the time Raffles landed in Singapore to its world renowned metropolis today. For some esoteric reason I missed reading the magnum opus when it was published but it's better late than never. It's such a consummate reader that one is taken through the history as if you are experiencing it and in such impeccable detail that it is amazing how John Drylsdale could have mustered all the sitmulating adventures leaving nothing to imagination. It is obvious he admired Lee Kuan Yew's unflinching death-defying prowess almost to the point of idolising him. So I come to the point where the author seemed to have inadvertently or indeed ignorantly failed to capture the political nuances on the ground. Lee Kuan Yew had very feeble, if any, mass base which was his greatest handicap when he began his political ambition and he saw Lim Chin Siong as a Godsend to provide him with this indispensable support. There was no question in his mind when he accompanied Lim Chin Siong to his regular CUF mass rally in the old Happy World Stadium where Lim invariably received a standing ovation as he entered the stadium. The immensity of the honour simply boggled his mind to the extent that it had become a spectre which haunted him throughout his political career. His pathetic state of mind could be seen on one occasion when he introduced Lim Chin Siong to his guests at a convivial gathering hosted by him as the future prime minister of Singapore. If history had taken its natural course Lee Kuan Yew could have ended up languishing in prime minister Lim Chin Siong's gaol. It was Chief Minister Lim Yew Hock and the Special Branch who turned up as his benefactors and rescued him from an abject fate. Anyway John Drylsdale had portrayed him in the most heroic manner which I think he deserved. Lee Kuan Yew made sure that Lee Hsien Loong to succeed him as prime minister to perpetuate the Lee Dynasty although the "wooden" Goh Chok Thong acted in the interim as a seat-warmer. Lee Hsien Loong may exhibit some merit in his performance but there is a corresponding lack of humanity in him. How on earth he and his equally greedy cohorts pay themselves millions of taxpayers' money allegedly for serving the people. Is not this a monstrosity of hoodwinking the people in order to enrich themselves, maybe for their scions to luxuriate in their livelihood which may last them for more than three generations? How does Singapore compare with the United States of America? Its President draws one fourth of the annual salary of Lee Hsien Loong (USD 400,000 annual salary). They may still be in some kind of slumber in not realising that they sit on their fat asses wallowing in their perks and luxuries of high office on the sacrifices made by civil servants like us in going through a life-threatening baptism of fire to bring this about. Can they survive the kind of baptism of fire that we went through? For all our sacrifices we were awarded poverty-level pension when we retired and with the cost of living rising from time to time with our pensions remaining stagnant I approached the humanitarian Lee Hsien Loong about raising our pensions to a little over the poverty-level so that we can have some breathing apace in our living. Just like what I mentioned above that he lacked humanity. He dismissed my appeal with some stupid excuse about being constrained by the Constitution. Whilst they wallow in the luxurious living by pocketing millions of people's money, do they know that there are indigent Singaporeans who live on the starvation subsistence level and many others who have to sleep in the open? You want to hoodwink them to believe that Singapore is a democratic and egalitarian society? But then you still have some guillible Singaporeans who vote you in election after election. Will there be any amelioration of the status quo? Unless there is a miracle or if God intervenes. It is expected that politicians, especially the prime minister, are fair games to be baited. I thought it would have been amusing that I had challenged the redoubtable Lee Hsien Loong to an intellectual and political discourse recently. I am not Cambridge educated and I may not better him but I can give him a vigorous run for his money which may dent his ego a little bit. I do not think he would have been disconcerted because he is, like his cohorts, so thick-skinned. His late benign father Lee Kuan Yew had inflicted grave injustice against me and he silently refused to make a public apology when requested by me. Anyway, there is a saying that the evils that men do live after them.   Yoong Siew Wah * The author was the Director of Singapore’s Internal Security Department (ISD) from 1971 to 1974. He was Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) in the 1960s, and had a distinguished career in the Singapore Special Branch in the 1950s.      Read More →

Lower Standing

Lower Standing

A self proclaimed opposition supporter S told me that my promotion of TCM EARLY TREATMENT PROTOCOL, especially the LHQW has "lowered my standing" as public figure. I believe this is some of the murmurs attacking me going around under the sky. I scolded him, of course. Public figures who pushed for Vaccine which doesn't work and proven to be potentially harmful are not lowering their "public standing" while I promoting an Early Treatment Protocol which is safe and effective for Singaporeans to deal with Covid-19 (CV) is seen as losing credibility? I don't earn anything, any royalty or advertising fees for promoting these things. It is just public service and helping Singaporeans at large to cope with the eventuality of infec, well expected with a useless Vaccine (V). Well, this same person S contacted me in anxiety to tell me he just kena CV and ask me what to do! I told him I am not going to undermine my public standing and he should just go and see the doctor or ask those who have promoted and pushing people to go for V. This is a typical Singaporean mindset. When nothing happens to them, they are not happy with other people who have successfully introduced a defence system against the impending threat. But when they kena hit, they come to you and seek for help! I have said this before, for those people who are from the V Cult, only believe in V can do everything while do not believe in Early Treatment Protocol for CV, or even mock at such introduction of Early Treatment Protocol, please do not use them when you kena infec! If you believe MOH whole heartedly, please refrain from taking LHQW or the other 2 TCM I have introduced! But I bet and believe, alot of these people, including those GMS haters, PAP people, MPs, Ministers(?) etc must have quietly taken these TCM when they kena infec! Well, they just dare not admit, such safe and effective Early Treatment Protocol is very much needed for us to tackle the CV. The worse thing is, threy even tried to undermine these TCM by asking some "TCM EXPERTS" to cast doubt on the suitability of these "off the shelf quick fix" medicine! Yes, all medicines may have adverse effects on certain people but for these few TCM, the side effects are mild and not fatal. Modern western medicines may not be suitable to certain people as well and some can have serious side effects. As long as this is not a chronic usage or long term dosage, it could be used safely and responsibly. Well, back to my silly S who basically panicked after tested positive. Out of compassion, I just send him the link to my TCM ETP. This protocol was drawn out by consulting qualified TCM physician and intensive readings of research papers, collection of vast experiences of Frontline doctors, physicians and patients etc. I am not an expert to create such protocol out of thin air. This protocol has worked very well for my family members and friends. I believe it has also worked well for many strangers out there as well. My conservative estimate is that more than half a million people in SG have bought these TCM and most probably used it, all thanks to MOH unintended advertising of such possible Early Treatment TCM. I have no regret at all to do whatever I can to save lives. At the end of the day, all of us will be judged on the day we shut our coffin covers.   Goh Meng Seng      Read More →

Forward Singapore

Forward Singapore

I refer to the Today’s report, "4G team to refresh social compact, develop 'Forward Singapore' agenda for next decade and beyond: Lawrence Wong" (May 1). The newly elected 4G leader, Lawrence Wong had clearly outlined in his May Day Rally's speech that refreshing the social compact will be a major undertaking of his 4G team. It is heartwarming to learn that Lawrence Wong wishes to collate and study feedback from unions, the people and private sectors on the economy, healthcare and housing, among others. As clearly defined by MSF Office of the Director - General of the Social Welfare: A Social Compact is an implicit agreement between the Government and the people on the roles and responsibilities each plays, so that together we can shape the growth of society in both the present and the future. As exploring, analysing and understanding the needs, aspirations, anxieties and plights of the people, especially the poor and the vulnerable ones become extremely critical for the Government when it comes to formulate, improve or adjusts its national policies. Thus, it should be the way to perceive them as the prime drivers to excel the nation forward, and climbing to another height. As highlighted in the website of Monetary Authority of Singapore, there is considerable uncertainty around the global macroeconomic outlook, with the trajectory of the pandemic remaining as a risk. Besides, global inflation is expected to rise further to 3.3% in 2022, etc. As we all know, Singapore is one of the global financial hubs and a cosmopolitan city, its economy and social fabric are unavoidably affected by such dynamic and volatile challenges. How would Singapore overcome all these difficulties are indeed the reflection and test of our 4G leaders’ wisdom, resilience and resourcefulness. As a concerned parent, I am worried about how could PAP Government help our young generation securing jobs in this highly competitive working environment and tight employment market as well as expanding their career prospects after their graduation from higher education institutions amidst Singapore is facing severe talent crunch, and globally competing for tech-focused talent. Hence, it is utmost critical and significant for our government to prioritize, focus and tackle the complexity of structural unemployment and retrenchments, as well as consistently promote skills upgrading schemes and knowledge-based technology to upgrade, uplift the entire workforce. Simultaneously, attract and balancing the right number of foreign talents to supplement our workforce. Although Singapore’s overall unemployment remained at 2.2 per cent; resident unemployment, 3 per cent; and citizen unemployment, 3.1 per cent, according to MOM’s monthly unemployment report for May. However, it is also important for the Government to help those retrenched or unemployed citizens inclusive of PMETs to be re-employed sooner the possible. In addition, it is extremely vital for the Government to institute contingency plans and consolidating its long-standing capabilities to uplift the economy, consistently improving the quality of livelihoods of all citizens and overcome these rapidly evolving economic challenges. For example, if the MAS could further strengthen our Singapore currency, it would certainly help our importers to bring down the costs of imported goods and services, also, it would offset the rising costs of inflation. Eventually, it is effective to cascade downward and ease the costs of living for every households. At present, many medium and low income households still struggle hard and find ways to make ends meat so that they are able to put enough foods on their dining tables amid of the rising foods prices, utilities bill and transportation charges. In the eyes of the public, it is the Government’s obligation to take bold and pragmatic actions for tackling the globally soaring oil, energy and food prices and the adverse effects of tight supply chain. Besides, it is key for the Government to consider the waiver for GST or not raising the GST for the daily essential staple foods, such as rice, flour, milk, milk powder, cooking oil, eggs, cheese, potato, fish, chicken and sugar. By doing so, it will greatly alleviate the escalating cost of living encountered by the people. I deeply believe these strategic measures or suggestions highlighted above will enhance the productivity of our workforce, and able to maintain stability and vibrancy of employment as well as fortify our GRP growth. End of the day, the people will appreciate the merits of the Government, and thereon, both parties can further strengthen the mutual trust and bonding so that we can look forward for an understanding, cohesive society and a prosperous, sparkling pSingapore.   Teo Kueh Liang (Mr)    Read More →
